Calm Learning to be calm in different situations has been a blessing for me. Patience is related but not quite the same. Though my patience for all things has grown.

Leting time show the way I really like how Koreans will let a few days go by if there is some problem they know they can't get fixed or solve right away before they address the issue. Related to patience and being calm. I guess it is the 'sleep on it' phase from the west.

What do i admire in korean character?

1: Inability to hold a grudge. Discipline a kid who does the ol' "check teacher for worms with the finger trick" and basically end up with him bawling home to mummy. Next day, he's back in class bright eyed and eager to pursue his favourite pass-time on his favourite bottom....

2: Ablility for women to still be dam n attractive even while whining like a petulant 3 year old.....

3: Their 3 second goldfish memory when it comes to foreigner sightings... they can see a wagook on the subway pretty much any day of their life and yet whenever they spot one- wow!!! whats that? ain't never seen one of those before!!!

don't really admire this last trait as such...... but you'd have to admit it would make life more interesting...... Wow! whats that??? Its a toothbrush. Geeee!!!! thats amazing!!! life is great

I think what I admire most about the Koreans is the the fact that they rarely ever leave Korea

... which means the chances of meeting them abroad are slim.

Respect, not toward us, but toward Koreans older than themselves.

Polite, I have seen many examples of this.

Koreans have a unique history, ancient and recent, so much of the strong passions we see-- from nationalism to opposing government policy-- are heartfelt.

I think equally true are young Koreans coming of age in a technology-driven world where they rank high on the list of connected peoples. They, collectively, have power (all Starcraft International events are here!). They are genuinely interested in the world around them, and they are carving the future of Korea for the world (be careful what you teach them!) Like their grandparents, they are keenly aware of their "rankings". Many realize that they cannot just copy the Japanese or the West-- they need to become leaders in fashion, technology, art. . . I admire the Korean filmakers who are entering and winning at major film festivals.

Koreans learned thrift through occupation and war, so maybe now they sometimes overindulge with friends and family. . . who doesn't in some way, shape or form?

I admire so many things in so many of my Korean friends, it's hard to pinpoint any characteristics, per se (though I've seen most of what previous posters wrote).

I really like how many Koreans are very receptive to toddlers. Sometimes too much so, granted, but it's better than in the West where adults who aren't blood-related to a child will 9 times out of 10 treat them like a piece of invisible garbage(tm).

great hair, and I admire the way so many of them go hiking at the weekends, especially the middle aged couples. Most people I know that age back home spend their saturdays shopping, mowing the lawn, washing the car, or lounging around- here you'll have crowds of 50 year olds enjoying the fresh air and scenery.

What other people have said about the industriousness and hard work too, people selling rice cakes to cars stuck in a traffic jam, office chairs in a highway layby, picking berries from common land at the side of the river, halmonies with baskets of ginseng on the stairs of the subway etc.

I like the way they act on airplanes. Especially how they ignore flight attendants' pleas to turn off their cell phones and how they make a mad rush for the exits once the plane has touched down.

I like the way parents let their kids run ape-shyte wild at restaurants, screaming their little hearts out, much to the delight of their proud units.
