I was walking to work and passed by a man sleeping on the stairs at the entrance to Sillim station. It then occurred to me that it seemed unnatural for the man to lie there clutching a newspaper with his head dangling off one of the steps.

OH MY GOD! HE'S DEAD!!

I'd seen that look before at open casket funerals.

It must have just happened because while I was halfway down the stairs, one guy jolted down the stairs, screaming towards the ticket counter. Others were craning their necks.

I've been angry and appalled at myself all day because I should have done something. Instead, I was just like what we accuse Koreans of doing -- ignoring the situation as someone else's problem.

A colleague of mine, who lives in the same building, left for work ten minutes after me. I asked if she noticed anything. She said there was a crowd at the subway entrance, and (Thank God) the old man had been revived.

Don't feel bad. Assuming he really was dead, you couldn't have done much about it.

It's probably a good thing you walked on by. Chances are you'd get the blame for it around here.

NEVER Get Involved in Korea. If the cops came
you would disappear into some dark cell for hours
until they figured out what was going on.

One time in the park we found a bloody briefcase
with a Chinese passport inside it. We carefully wiped
the handle where we touched it and quickly walked
the other way.

Korean police are notoriously stupid and racist.

DON'T GET INVOLVED!

was that a briefcase actually covered in blood, or just like "Oh no, not another bloody briefcase"?

Either/or, I just rifle the contents, wipe my prints, and walk away. The KIA is notoriously stupid and racist.

...This post will self destruct in 5 seconds...
