This latest from Yahoo news: "Korean bullfights draw large crowds".

"Stamina food is prepared before matches, recipes of which vary in accordance with handlers.

"Some bulls are treated to expensive herb tonics. Others enjoy mudfish and live octopus," an official of Cheongdo County says"

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050328/lf_afp/skoreabullfight_050328184812

apparently it was legalised only last year: a new drawcard for korean tourism?

Anyone know when it starts, or has it finished. Have heard that they also have western bullriding, bucking bull lriding or whatever it's called.

How do they determine the winner? Last bull standing? Do the bulls get seriously hurt?

I'd like to see it anyway.

edit. Should have read the article. My questions are answered.

It's not what you would expect a bull fight to be. Two bulls, one arena, two men, one in blue and one in red. They are the bulls coaches. They curse and cajole the bulls to get them motivated. The bulls go head to head and the first bull to turn tail and run is the loser. The matches can go for hours or minutes. It's an interesting spectacle. Smile

First bull to gore and kill the two handlers gets a beautiful, sexy cow from me. If the two bulls team up and kill them, we'll declare a tie and award two cows.

Were you able to tell which curse words the bulls took most offense at? (This could be important survival information for anyone caught in a field with a Korean-speaking bull.)

It made the YAHOO news so there will be a lot more coverage for future Bullfights. Might become a regular tourist jaunt for foreigeners.

Could also be a betting and gambling thing too

I've seen it televised now- what you have is two disinterested bulls who in natural circumstances, would size eachother up and leave eachother alone, being cajoled and forced to fight by two ring masters: A bit of head-to-head action, then one turns tail and runs, and its all over.

Not sure about Tiger's pic- a bull goring a horse? WTF thats just wrong...

Thats about right. The interesting thing about the fight though is the reaction of the winning and losing bulls after the fight....one displays the look of humiliation and shame, head down and fighting for breath in the corner and the other sticks his chest out and does a couple of victory laps on his own accepting the applause...."ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED???!!!"
