Please pass the word around. I think there are a lot of good people out there who can get involved and make a difference. I have a few ideas that I will toss out in hte next few days. The more the merrier, though. |

My wife and I have a hagwon, and we'd never think of hiring someone who isn't qualified (i.e. no diploma). It's hard enough as it is to make a profit without having someone uneducated messing things up. Funny thing about this whole thing is that the majority of hagwon owners hire Korean teachers who have college diplomas (not univeristy diplomas), or no degree at all. So, I find it absurd that some Koreans are so fast to point the finger at unqualified foreign teachers.
If they really were serious about attracting qualified English teachers, as opposed to hiring early 20 something university grads (not to mention illegals), the Korean government would invest in English language schools or, at the very least, English immersion classes to cater to the children of older, more experienced teachers. But, you know what would happen if they did that. |

Not to mention the thousands of university students hired by parents to "teach" English as a part-time job.

| I know professors that work at that university. I will have to ask them if the sign is still up. |
