So, tonight I was walking home from the store, and a man followed me and pointedly exposed himself to me Shocked until I strongly told him "Get Away!" Then I don't know if he followed me...Has anyone had these kind of experiences here?! Geez - I thought it was much safer than the States... Any tips?
I live in a suburb of Seoul, been here teaching about 6 months. I'm kinda freaked now...

Safer in a way. Yeah, you'll find as a white woman you're a pervert magnet. Imagine being an attractive Asian woman in any North American city. "Oh she's just like the women in those bondage videos I download from the net and loves to be tied up!"

You get to live that life here.

I understand your situation.......learn the cuss words and yell it back at him.

Here's some...

1) Ku-mahn-hera Kay-Say-Gee!! (leave me alone, son of a b*tch!)...drop all those korean polite "yo's" to demean him.

2) Or you can yell "Pyong-tae! Pyong-tae!" (Pervert!) Maybe it will catch other people's attention (it did for me and the guy took off)

3) Or you can say "Ku-mahn-hera hangul nampyeon chogee!! (leave me alone, my korean husband is over there!" and point to some random Korean guy (preferably real strong looking) ...I did that and a pig Korean ajeosshi nearly p*ssed his pants.

It sucks because even though Korea is a relatively safe country, I never had as many perverted gawkers as here in Korea. I'm a little luckier as I have a Korean fiance, but he's actually to hit/punch a couple of stupid ajeoshis who were gawking/trying to touch me right in front of him!

I feel your pain...the dirtiest thing in this country are the many pig ajeoshis. Their brains are not fully developed. Just exercise good juddement and never be alone with an ajeoshi. I live in an apartment and I even wait for another elevator if I think I'm going to be in the same one with an ajeoshi. Whenever, I'm walking alone and some ajeoshi is barreling my way....just go into a supermarket and wait there. If you have a handphone...just flip it open and pretend you are having a conversation so he won't ask you those incessantly harassing questions (Are you Russian? Where are you from?) You have to be extra rude...sounds like you did a good job.

My mom had a guy expose himself to her on the bus. She nearly had a stroke....but he was too far away.
*rim shot*

Seriously, though: her response was the best. She had the wherewithal to point and laugh. Way to go, mom. Laughing

What would happen if a girl sprayed MACE on a guy's crotch? Would it burn, or does that only burn if you get it in the eyes?

My daughter was accosted on a poorly lighted main street in Seattle one
night by a man with no pants- she walked out into the street and made herself real visible to the traffic. The man fled when traffic stopped. It was quick thinking, if a bit risky.

I'm no local language pro by any stretch, but wouldn't that actually mean 'Leave me alone, my alphabet husband is over there?' Confused

Oops...proof that I need to get off my lazy a** and start studying Korean again Embarassed That sure sounds funny though, "hey, you pervert,my husband knows the ALPHABET..you're in deep sh*t now!!" The ajeoshi probably ran away because he thought I was some psycho.
Or as PS pointed out...just say you are married to the reincarnate form of King Sejong.
