I didn't laugh at Khunopie's post (in fact, I made a note of the name, to just see if he is usually that vicious), but your Shar-Pei makes me smile. What a great expression on that mug. |

| I like the way Koreans know their cuisine. They wine and dine in elegance. Soft satin napkins, the finest silverware and crystal. What I admire most is the way they eat. Who could not admire such a display of class. Not a crumb will fall to the floor. No noises. Even after a huge meal, the men will not make any sucking sounds (trying to dislodge a piece of pig fat from les dents). I admire their hate for meretricious things. Old people do not appear gaudy, nor do they appear arrogant. I have never seen an attractive woman even glance at herself in a hand mirror. The children are examples of angelic bliss. All Koreans know that querulous children do not exist here. And the adults do not display any bovine mannerisms. In fact just the opposite. The Greeks would be in awe of the amount of logic the Koreans use. The neo-cortex is the brain 99 percent of them use. Yes, no animal instincts here. No fecklessness. No brashness. That is why the French hold the Koreans up as an example of the ideal 'man'. The Koreans have gained the attention of the world! Oh no................................................the azuma just brought my ramyon and she dropped the satin napkins, uggggggg I mean the toilet paper roll, oh well, at least her matching blue flowered pants match the light blue stripes on her blouse today......no orange stripes!. Got to goooooooooooooooooooooooo! |

I love the way Koreans can rationally and dispassionately find the causes of their problems within themselves and quietly take appropriate measures to correct their faults.
They never blame anybody else for their misfortunes. Soul-searching is their strength, and they can diversify their abilities to cope with any changes in the world.
Just look at these 50.000 Korean farmers protesting against the WTO in seoul, who are opening up the market to foreign rice.

This is such a Protestant attitude!
This thread was going great, on topic and productive, and then became inane.
I admire the ability of Koreans to still treat foreigners with such respect as guests in their country despite all that they have seen and thought about foreigners. |

Ah. So this sarcasm and the original sarcasm are actually pro-missionary comments. Fine. Korean culture is headed in that direction. |

My comment was not pro-missionary. I was simply pointing out that many Koreans are also Protestants. Would you deny Koreans the right to choose a "Western" religion? Would you deny Koreans the right to choose a philosophy of personal accountability that matches their religion? Who IS the missionary, and what is his position? |
