| Pusan is also a large city. It is rather nice too, if you want sandy beaches in summer it's the place to go. The only reason I would choose Seoul over Pusan is that it seems to me even though Pusan is a large city, it is still very Korean. Seoul has a much more international flavor to it. |
Exactly, having lived in both, Busan is nice geography.. but its basically a city filled with very country-minded folk. Tons of staring and strange Korean oddities and such that are non-existant in Seoul. Sounds like Busan would be nice as its so Korean if you've never been here. But living in Busan is something that I wouldn't want to repeat or wish on anyone. Living in Seoul again is an easy thing to do. |

| Sokcho does seem to have a different flavor. Its setting is special which draws lots of seasonal tourists so it's relatively prosperous with a fair variety of diversions. Feels more citylike than pop 90,000 would suggest but also has some small-town end-of-the-road charms. (Seogwipo might be comparable?) I'm coming up 5 happy years here but thinking about a change. |
I wish I started working there or worked there at some time. I went there this fall, and it is pretty beautiful. Although the seasonal traffic must make local residents nuts. Seriously, on a weekend it is nuts driving around there.

Bundang, because it's a government-planned city. Things are kept clean, there are two beautiful parks, lots of space, its close to Seoul, there are tons of pretty girls crowded around Seohyeon and Sunae station, and I live there.
I live there.
Makes ya wanna get here a fast as possible, huh?

Been there, done that. Still visit Pundang often...might consider living there if it wasn't so APARTMENT overkill. Also pretty darn expensive.

| Seoul ... end of story. Like someone else mentioned, they are all basically the same. I never had a desire for the country town experience. |
Depends where in Seoul. You couldn't pay me enough to live in East Seoul again. No amount of money can compensate for no trees, dirty air, lots of noise and did I say crap air?
I wouldnt rank Seoul #1, even though I've lived in Seoul for almost 5 yrs. I can honestly say you can do 90% of what you do in Seoul in another city. Even small cities have night clubs, hookers, pc bangs, singing rooms, hofs, bars, cafes, movie theaters, shopping etc.

Any city in Manitoba is better than any city in korea...
Canada is the center of the world. |
Canada maybe the center, but we all know Toronto is the center of Canada, and if you ask most people from the center about Manitoba cities, I bet no one can name more than Winnepeg off the top of their heads. |

No one voted for Guri Si as the best city in Korea. The Environmental harmony should have put it over the top (Check out the Guri website sometime) |

| Best city in Korea? Is this the equivalent to being the best figure-skater in Botswana? I'll weigh in on this one, though. I'm quite fond of Chunchon. It's clean (by Korean standards), the air is breathable, the tap-water is actually drinkable, the setting is scenic, and there's enough of a 'scene' to make staying here worthwhile. And if it gets slow, then Seoul is just two hours away via the beer-train. |

I live in a small town that is part of Siheung City south of Seoul. I'm quite happy here as it has the "best of both worlds". It is over an hour to Seoul by bus and train, but that's no big deal if you're making a day trip of it on the weekends.
Also I'm lucky enough to live in an apartment that is big enough for some Korean families, something that I very much doubt would be the case if I lived in Seoul. Any Korean small town has hofs, restaurants, and PC-bangs for weekday entertainment.
Living in a small town would definitely be a struggle if you did not have easy access to the conveniences of a larger city. |
