Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good massage therapist in Busan? How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks,

Paula

Stick your head out the window and look for the two revolving barbershop cylinders.

Those kind of places will only massage one part of your anatomy. (or so I have heard, from a friend of a friend)

Your local jjimjjilbang will provide a fairly decent massage for under 35k, if you don't mind being massaged by an ajosshi (for the men) or ajuma (for the women).

Korea's advanced in it's alternative medicine with it's ancient arts. Today I saw a guy go to the pharmacist holding his stomach complaining and the pharmacist felt his wrist for his 'pulse' (not heart pulse, but the meridian pulse accupuncturists look for and can read).

Last I heard about his I worked in Bucheon (neighbourhood of Seoul) and a foreigner said he got a therapuetic wholistic whatever you want to call the all body massage. He pointed to the floor of the building. It was 30,000 for an hour, he said. I'd ask the Korean teachers at work or your boss. Tell them what you want; they know the neighbourhood....

I've never tried it, but I picked up a leaflet for Christine Im Sook Davis, who is (according to her ad) a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist (USA). Her office in Itaewon and her number is 016-704-5114. Her rates are W40,000 for a half hour, W60,000 for forty-five minutes, and W80,000 for an hour. You can get a 10% discount if you prepay for four sessions.
