Anyone working there now, what is there to do in the area? got any good amenities?
got offered a job, teaching hours, 1pm-6pm M-F (2.0-2.2M won) Seems like a pretty good deal, at least the hours are sweet.
just wondering about the area really, will I survive (I lived in eastern Seoul last year)??? |

What school is it? Yongin itself isn't much but they've been builidng some new areas and have some really nice new public schools. I've been teaching the afternoon program at Shin Leung Elementary School and the school is really good and the students really good. I think Shingil Elementary is the one looking to hire someone full time and I believe it's also a brand new school in a nice new area. |

They didn't tell me the name of the school...
How far is it from Seoul? Is it on the subway line?
They said it was a set curriculum and that i could do anything i wanted extra with the kids. Use the music room, gym, outdoors...etc. I think it sounds pretty decent.
Any good bars??? ha ha |

I live in Suwon and I haven't been bothered to check much out in Yongin. From what I gather there probably isn't much of a foreigner community because the city (althought quite large) is pretty much a dirty hole. There are pockets of nice areas that are newly constructed (likely where the school is) and the city is changing quite a bit. Yongin has everything you need for basic life and it's only a 10 minute bus ride into Yongtong, Suwon. Buses from Yongin go to Kangnam very regularly and it's about a 20-25 minute trip. It's not on the subway line...but doesn't really need to be. I'm considering a full time positon at a public school there for Sept. because the school I'm currently doing the after-school program at is quite nice. |

Follow the yellow subway line all the way to the end (Bokjeong or Bojeong? New name sounds like another station) and you end up in Yong-In.
I dated a girl from there, and yes, it's a dirty hole (not the girl). You can take buses to other cities close by, like Suwon and Bundang... also Seoul is like maybe 40 to 45 minutes on a not-busy day.
The school could be nice. It could be a hole. Most schools are generally the same. |

Depends on where the school is in Yongin, but from Bundang it takes about 30-45 minutes by bus. There are a few buses that go directly to where I teach, and I sometimes take the bus to work.
But Yongin can be good or bad depending on where your school is located. |

Er, I'm pretty sure there's no subway to Yongin. You can take the 5001 or the 5002 from Gangnam though. |

There is not a subway line to Yongin. There is an express bus terminal that will get you to Seoul in 40 minutes, though. If you lived in Seoul last year, Yongin might be a bit of a let down. Yongin is a pretty spread out city. I live in an older part of Yongin and it is quite dreary. However, I am at an excellent school, so that makes up for it. To be honest there is not much to do in these parts. |
