I see McDonalds is celebrating the Year of the Rooster.

Does this mean McNuggets are on special?

I honestly thought this was a joke, like from one of those satire sites or something. Some PR execs are totally laughing their asses off about this right now, cuz there's no way any of them could think people would buy this BS... Or would they?

Anyways, the world gets awesomer and awesomer every day!

yes. let's celebrate haute cuisine. by going to mcdonalds.

honestly, were they drunk when they made this?? it couldn't be more horrible. i'm despisin' it.

incidentally, here's a google search to show how horribly cliched the phrase 'high fash to high tech' is. although, to be fair, half the links are ragging on that site.

There is no emoticon to express the feeling I'm having right now -- but if you could imagine a combination of the following, plus one that looks poised to vomit, you might get an idea.

Laughing Mad Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad Confused Shocked Shocked Shocked Evil or Very Mad

It's like something from The Onion- not sure if I hope it is a joke, or if I hope it isn't a joke.

Its the real deal.

MacDonalds is all about equality. Asians arent fat enough and MacDonalds is trying to correct the imbalance.

Sounds romantic and all but its funny how they failed to mention how Teddy and 200 of his fellow countrymen died while attempting to deep-fry a batch of fries.

By the way, is Teddy Tongson really an Asian name or was McDonalds trying to whiteify his ass?

"It should read Asian American".

Oddly in Canada most people don't get really raw assed about this. Few people say "I'm Korean Canadian" or "I'm Italian Canadian" or "I'm Irish Canadian". You just say "I'm Korean." "I'm Irish." Doesn't matter if you came off the boat yesterday or you're 4th generation Canadian. If you want to identify with your heritage, more power to you. Few think you're less Canadian or proud of Canada because you actively subscribe to one of Canada's core beliefs. It's not a melting pot. It's a "cultural mosaic". Everyone adds their colorful, interesting thread.

This having to be a "x-American" strikes me as paranoid. "Look just because I value my Korean heritage doesn't mean I'm not American! And to comfort you, I'll claim to be American."

(Oddly the exception seems to be "French Canadian", although people in Quebec would just say Quebecois. The French here seem to want to distance themselves from France French.)

OK, this has got to be a joke. Really. Teddy farkin' Tongson??? Rollingonfloorlaughingmyass off : roll eyes : etc, etc...I'm sure McD's is doing the "kiss Asia's ass" deal, but this particular site is just too much! I'm guessing Adbusters or something like that... and a lawsuit to follow.

The world would be a much funnier place if it was real though, so I'm still hopin'...

Alright... Having second thoughts about the fake thing. It IS real... Good god.

Anyways, I was wondering "How the hell could the target group POSSIBLY buy into this patronizing crap?" when I thought of the "I Am" Molson Canadian rant commercial back in 2000.

We fell hard for that one, which I would consider not much above this whole "I am Asian" McD's thing....

... and don't even say we didn't, cuz that thing's still going strong today. How many "Canadians Kick Ass" shirts have you seen this week? Hahaha...

I think the reverse has always been more true (despite de Gaulle's silly antics). Whereas the pied-noirs were reviled, they were at least seen as essentially of the same species. French Canadians? Surely less French than Afrikaners are Dutch in the eyes of the "old" country.

Oh, about the website-- um, I don't understand why are people here are so sure it's a just big joke. Or, do people actually not think it's a joke, but they say otherwise because ... they think that makes them look clever and superior? Confused
