Yellow Dust Covers Seoul Skies

Senior citizens, children and those suffering from respiratory diseases should stay home, a Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention official said. "People should keep their windows closed, wear goggles, masks and long-sleeved shirts when going out, and drink plenty of water to help flush out the waste matter in the body," the official said. He said people should wash their hands, feet and face after returning home and wear glasses instead of contact lenses, which may be scratched by dust particles.

OMG. Shocked

And I was gonna post a thread saying how wonderful the weather was on Tuesday, the holiday, when I saw clear blue skies over the ocean to some Japanese isles from here.

Seoul sucks in the spring time it seems. Is it really worth living anywhere near there?

I think that picture sums it up. Some people see the smog, pollution and traffic when they come to Seoul. Others see the comely lass on the left. I just saved that picture.

South Korean meteorologists warned on Thursday of high yellow dust levels and forecast further clouds of the pollutant for next week. Korea Meteorological Administration issued a yellow dust warning for Seoul and the central part of the country in the late afternoon. "We have had the heaviest yellow dust levels so far this year. We expect it to weaken from Friday afternoon, but we advise everyone to take health precautions," the meteorological agency said.

it doesn't actually look like that in real life though- come on people, keep some perspective- the dust sucks, but it's not LA or anything.

I simply don't notice the dust at all. Ever! It really is not that bad. Those pictures are mis-leading.

Seoul is found to have the worst air pollution levels among the 31 OECD member countries, and social costs stemming from the situation are estimated at about 10 trillion won. Figures made available in 2003 showed that the emission level of fine particulate matter in Seoul stood at 69ppb, compared to 20ppb in London and 53ppb in Mexico, while that of nitrogen oxide in Seoul measured 37 ppb, also higher than 25 ppb for London and 27 ppb for Mexico.

Scientists Discover World's Biggest Tool
In a survey undertaken by the national office of statistics, Dave's ESL poster Real Reality was discovered to be the biggest melv, living or dead, in the entire World. With an annual average of getting on the *beep* of 85.43 people per hour, he easily outshone his nearest competitor, Carrot Top.
