I got a sweet offer in Uiwang City and I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas or comments about it.. the school is near the indeogwan subway stn (line 4)

How far is it from Seoul proper? I'm thinking that its about 40 minutes or so from Kangnam. Its ont he Subway line so that's a good sign.

Uiwang? Is that ǿ? .... or however it's written in Korean. A little town between Suwon and Anyang? Line number 4? Maybe not then.

It's dangerous to use "on the subway line" as criteria for a "good sign".
Cheonan is on the subway line and is a 40 minute ride away on the KTX..never mind the subway. Even from Suwon to Seoul seems like an eternity sometimes. Don't get me wrong, though, on the whole, the subway system rules
On that note...has anyone ridden the subway from Cheonan to Seoul? How long does it take?

you are fairly close to Seoul. It's about a 40 min ride inot the heart if it.

Also you are quite close to peyong-chun and beyum-gye... both areas will have foreigners around.

Worst case, you take a 8 min bus ride to Anyang first street.

btw, what's the schools name?

I had some friends take it up a few weeks ago...

they took the non-express one...

took them just over 2 hours to get to Noksappyeong station..

never again they said.

the end.

I took the extended #1 line from Suwon to Songtan once to pick up a couple of things, and the subway is pretty damn packed. That wasn't too bad of a trip, but the whole thing is, yea, 2 hours +.

It's one of those "after-school" programs I think. I dont know what school it is, but apparently all schools in the area are now going to be staffed with and English (read:white) teacher.

I'm torn as to whether to take it. they are offering 2.2m, but it depends on student numbers... it could be as low as 2.0. the teacher seems confident that getting enough students will not be a problem. The Hours are great though... I might just do it for a year.

I lived in Pyeongchon last year. From Beomgye station to Itaewon it was about 45 minutes usually. This year I am in Suwon, and it takes about 25 minutes to either Anyang station or beomgye station, you should be able to take about 9 or 10 minutes off that from Uiwang station. It took less than an hour from suwon to hongdae on the subway. By all accounts you are closer, so the area you live in won't be bad. If you are on line 4, it makes it even closer, especially if you go to downtown Seoul or Kangnam. If you need any more help, feel free to contact me.

That's good to know, as I was worried that it would be very far away. Im feeling a bit better about it now. I think i'll give it a go, and see if i can get that job.

Hahaha, what are you smoking bud. Suwon station is only 4 stops from songtan station. That should take maybe 20min. I took a bus from Anyang and it was less than an hour. Laughing

If you have a car from Indegwon (sp) it takes a little less than 10 minutes to hit southern Seoul (Gangnam). Indeogwan is chock full of bars, and ho's. Not a bad place to be located and depending on which side of the road you live on you are either in Uiwang or Anyang City. Just a hop skip and a jump to Pyeongchon and Beomgye.

Uiwang itself has nothing. Suwon and Anyang are near. They have something. Seoul isn't far.

I guess you know this all ready. Very Happy
