Just wanting to hear back from people who have worked in a public school or know anything about it.

the job offer sounds really good.

its from 800-850am... then from 130-450pm has anyone worked this schedule, im a little zonked about the hour in the morning. i wonder if it is teaching korean teachers or adults? the pay is 2.2 mil / single housing... 2weeks, and korean holidays.

I'm gonna try to talk to the teacher i am replacing tomorrow, but would like some heads-up info before i speak with them. Anything in particular I should ask them?

ask them why they are leaving the position and if the apartment is ok. also ask them if there boss is listening in and get their email addy.

to be honest, the hour in the morning is ok as long as you can leave the campus to go to other things like go to the gym.

8:00-8:50 is usually an extra-curricular class taught to higher level students since regular classes don't begin until 9 or 9:10.

Yea, it sounds like you'll be teaching all extra-curricular style classes. I teach at public elemtary school and all of my real classes are from 9:10 - 12:20.

Well, I work from 9-5 too, but my real classes are from 9 - 12:30. I also have extra overtime classes and teacher classes after lunch.

I got the job because I was here to interview at the right time and I am handsome. (What Koreans think is handsome anyway.)

I think tall and white is all it takes for Koreans to consider a guy handsome- not what qualifies you for a public school gig Razz I know women that are not tall by any stretch working at the public schools..

Not being afraid to teach 40 + kids at a time would seem to be the major consideration actually.

Yea, it qualifies you to get the job, not to do the job well. It's difficult.
