|
|
When i first came to Korea I was strickly a grilled-meat-directly-into-the- mouth-sans-garnishes-kinda guy. My, how I've changed over the years..
Now:
Grilled meat (calbi, samgyupsal, etc)
Grilled onions
Grilled Kimchi
Place the meat in that pepper/salt concoction
Dip the meat into samjung sauce
Toss it onto a piece of lettuce with the onion and kimchi
Throw back a shot of soju
Immediately fire the calbi cocoon into your mouth
When you exhale the calbi kind of marinates in the soju "fumes"
Swollow and experience the inevitable mouth orgasm.
I still can't believe that soju and kimchi are now a prerequisite when i eat calbi
Bullet meet head

For that bit of extra flavor, sprinkle some soju on the galbi when you put it on the grill. |

| I dodge the soju, but the calbi cocoon (tm dat bizness) is one of the highlights of my life here. It doesn't matter to me how good the meat is; they need to have older kimchi that fries up well, some of that vinegary sliced up radish stuff, a nice grass concoction, and sesame leaves to be a proper meal. My cocoon is never sealed. |

Dang right!
Ever been to Carney Station? Knowing that i was going there last night inspired this thread actually. I wasn't disappointed.
All you can eat gogi (including chicken, shabu-shabu, etc.) AND all you can drink for only 22,000 won. The best part is that you pour your own beer and mix your own liquor. Yessah, quadruple whiskey cokes to finish the night.
I closed that place down with such authority that the staff was calling me Eckersley. |

Amen to that. Rarely go, but it's always great when I do. 22K for a full belly and the buzz of your choosing. Bliss indeed. |
