I need some help with a project I'm working on. Some of my older students want to learn English songs they can sing at the noraebang to show off to their friends. I'm going to find the lyrics and teach them to the kids in the class. Can you suggest some English tunes that are pretty common in noraebangs. I could be safe and go with an all Beatles repetoire, but I'd like to have some variety.

Thanks in advance

Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side might be educational.

I ALWAYS hear that song "On top of the World" by the Carpenters...in Noraebangs, TV, on their cellphones.....
Be warned: I will shoot the next person who sings that song...bad memories two years ago when my boss made me sing that song for the hagwon talent show, with hundreds of parents snapping pictures and laughing in derison Evil or Very Mad

John Denver and The Carpenters seem to be real popular here, same as in China and Japan.

Just one of those mysteries of the universe, like why Koreans believe in fan death or how did Stephen Revere get so famous.

I did Karaoke in my afterschool class this past Friday. In preparation, I asked my students which songs they wanted to sing. The top two...

Yesterday - Beatles
Dancing Queen - ABBA

I asked "why not do Hey Jude instead of Yesterday?" They replied "huh." They had never heard "Hey Jude." Kinda shocked me actually.

Stevie Wonder's songs are popular.

They might sell books with English norebong songs. I bought one with the Korean norebong songs, so I assume they might have the English equivalent.

Mamas and Pappas "California Dreaming"

"My Love" by Westlife. Are popular
