I've seen them advertising for not much more money than you'd earn working at a hagwon. They used to pay more, but they caught on. |

Actually this job is 4 mil. a month- housing allowance on top and 5 weeks paid holidays- not as good as what I do now but more stable.
But wondering what they are like to work at? |

Cool. Maybe with your previous background, you will land it. Let us know if you do and what you find out. Is there a particular time of year when they hire for these?
And you're making more than 4 million per month in the NOWON area? Legallly? |

I work for a government company in Daejeon. They are more conservative (read lower paying but also more stable!) than private companies. I am on my sixth contract with them.
I receive slightly more than 40 million Won annually, can receive up to the same for key money if I wish, have the same expenses given as regular employees when I travel (for example, when I go twice a year to Seoul to check out books they give me W120,000), they pay the usual regarding health care and pension. I also get to use various condos (went to Sorak and Yongin already this year) for free, receive several "cash" (actually SK gift certificates) of 4-500,000 a year, and about 4 weeks vacations a year.
The duties are steadily getting away from teaching (as i have posted before) and I work 8-5, 5 days a week. Generally, I teach about 15 hours a week but have a least 8-10 weeks a year without any classes. I spend a large amount of time (or sometimes no time!) each week editing and writing documents for the various departments in this company, especially the International Business Dept.
It seems to me that the salary you are hoping for is a bit on the high side, especially if you are asking for housing. In this company I am paid on the same scale (annually) as regular employees, approximately. Thus, workers in this company who are employed 6 years make the same salary as I do. The Kwa-Jang level (in this company 10-12 years to be promoted to that level) would be making what you are (They are about age 40-45 at this job level).
In Seoul this may be reasonable, but outside of Seoul I think you should aim a tad lower. |

actually...........this is their offer not mine- 5 weeks paid vacation and a housing allowance although amount hasn't been disclosed- hours 10-6
anywho I am just wondering what a company like this is like to work for- fulltime as opposed to part-time -and if there is any animosity towards the Sonsangnim and his/her elevated wages? |
