I think the thread title is sufficiently explanatory. I need a cell phone and a digital camera. Can one item fill that need? If so, can someone recommend a good brand?
Thanks,

The basic answer is yes. My new phone ( with camera) came with a cable to upload stuff to my pc.
BUT
You won't get the same photo quality from a phone cam as you would from a regular digital camera. I don't think you can buy a phone cam with a zoom lens for example. |

There is at least one of the better Samsung camera phones with a zoom lens, but it is a big one.. not fun to carry. And it's expensive.. maybe above 750,000 won.
Get a phone with a removable flash media card of some type. Mine is removable, and with a card reader for my computer, it works well with photos. Also mp3. |

be warned.. and if someone can remedy this for me please do...
My phone came with the cable for uploading pics but no software. With my limited Korean I found the site for downloading the software and did so.
Then when I tried to uplaod it asked me to enter my passowrd and user name. What password and user name. Apparently I have to log in first, which requires the Korean id number, which doesn't work for foreigners.
So as far as I know I can't upload my pics unles perhaps I get some serious aid from a Korean friend.
Good luck and if anyone has advice for me let me know. |

Exactly, Kaya!
Same problem here. And either way, I don't care to have any Korean company knowing what photos/videos/songs I put in my phone.
That is why you want one with a Mini-SD memory card, or some other form of removable card you can put pics and stuff on at will. You will need to buy a card reader for your computer, too.. about 25,000 to 35,000 won. |

Thanks for the info, everyone. Right now 500k+ won is just too much for me to spend right now. I might just get a digitical camera this month and a cell phone next month. |

I have a little red phone from motorola that weighs nothing.
it's kind of old and very cheap these days. it has a digital camera with zoom on it and what I do is:
I take a picture of whatever I want and save it then send it to my e-mail using the photomail option and the english @ option and type in my email address and send.
30 seconds later the picture arrives in my e-mail and I print it out and end up with a perfect paper copy of whatever I took a picture of. |
