Are they open for non-Koreans with the Korean ID to register and post?

From the Korea Wiki:

Quote:
http://www.cyworld.com

After applying you will receive this notice:

Խû ּż մϴ.

ȸ ȸ ̽ʴϴ.

 Ȯ ÷θ ȸԲ Ȯ 纻 ( ź, , , ܱε 纻 1) [email protected] Ȥ ѽ(+82-2-421-1286) ֽø Ȯ Խθ 帮ڽϴ. (Խû Ͻ , 1 ̳ ü ּž մϴ.)

 ø, ̿ ȸ ̿ մϴ. ̿ cyworld.nate.com

You will have to send a copy of your passport through fax to the above phone number, after which it will be activated.

One person also claims that:

"All I did was put in my ARC# and I was good to go.."

I think any piece of ID will do. My friend did mine for me but apparently after signing on you become some sort of a junior member without all the benefits, until you send in your id. I think. Mashimaro knows more about the hurdles of signing on than I do though.

I just noticed something from a week back:

It says that from now on you have to send in your id within a week of signing up or your page will get cancelled. Before people were allowed to let it run as long as they liked. So sign up and send the stuff that night or the next day.

http://helpdesk.cyworld.nate.com/mail/exMailQuestion.asp?leftFlag=mailquestion

That's the address to ask a direct question after you've signed up, just in case. You could also just send an email to the cycop.

I really like cyworld, but here in Australia where the internet is very slow I can't really use it to much at the moment

Ah, such a hassle.

One of my enthusiastic students made a Cyworld page JUST for our class. He asked me last class if I'd posted on it yet.. and I told him 'not yet' and you could see his disappointment.

Man, all this work, just for a few posts on a student's Cyworld messageboard.

You can leave a message on his cyworld without having your own...

Hey that's pretty cool of him. I mean, he's pretty psyched about class, which is a good thing right? :)

just because, here's what you do: get Firefox (in case you don't have it), then go here:
http://tonytalkstech.com/2004/12/28/turbo-charge-your-firefox-browser/
and follow the instructions. Firefox is really good for Cyworld and I use it when answering pages because they load up right away. s don't show up though so you'll have to use something else for some of the features, but for going from page to page it's way faster.
