i think i'll pass and just hang on to my cushy job here at the andong-shi ding dang dung hogwan. my boss has promised to make me assistant head foreigner teacher after i'm awarded my Ph.D in Education this summer. it just doesn't get any better than this, brother! i could get you in if you're looking, bro, but you got to know what the hell you're doing in a classroom and not just teach stupid noises and ramble on about your lack of nookie like a drunken sailor on a weekend pass. pm me only if you're interested and qualify for the job. Evil or Very Mad

OK, sorry for being serious and not seeing that you were only taking the piss.

i'm qualified to teach English and i don't want a job as a biologist, computer programmer, psychologist or whatever. i'm not qualified for those jobs and wouldn't have a clue how to do them. Rolling Eyes

Would you be looking for a job then? My hagwan's hiring at the end of this month as I am finished my contract. Wink

how much does it pay?

That would be the 2.0 mil question. The answer, on the other hand, would be closer to whatever you can beg, squeeze, pry .... and then finally extort from the penny-pinching, tightfisted claws of the Wonjong nim. Laughing Laughing Shocked Confused Laughing Cool Laughing
Seriously,
I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, but then again if you really want to torture yourself, have at it. It's all yourn. Wink

Twisted Evil

do i need references?

You can have mine. I'll tell him you are God's gift to the ESL teaching world and the best English teacher Korea has ever seen, if that's what you want. Laughing

All he wants is someone who is legal to teach in Korea, that means you have at least a BA, which I think you said you had long ago, along with all of your other fantastic qualifications.

If you are really serious about the job, pm me for details.

Dude, you do a good job taking the piss, but if you think you'll also have me believe that you're a soon-to-be PhD in education eagerly awaiting a job as an 'assistant head foreign teacher' at a DDD, sorry, but I'm not interested in that lakefront property.

In case you missed it: a repost. I'll give the boss these glowing recommendations, if you'll only deign to ask. Wink

You can have mine. I'll tell him you are God's gift to the ESL teaching world and the best English teacher Korea has ever seen, if that's what you want. Hell, I'll even tell him you are a real hit with the ladies and will attract more students to this place than a sh**pile attracts flies. That ought to make his eyes bug out even more than normal. I'll tell him you are willing to walk the streets handing out business cards and pamphlets to draw more students, if that's what you want. You're willing to design, print and distribute school ads on your own time and at your own expense, just because you care.

I'll tell him you're an expert with the business crowd too, you've handled all the mergers and acquistions of several major corperations.
But that was before you decided that EFL was the newest up and coming
big thing, and that Korea and hagwans are where it's at. That was before you decided you wanted in now, on the ground floor, before this hagwan thing goes global.

I'll tell him you are the most righteous dude that has walked the face of the earth since the days of Jesus Christ, and that you would only bring God given blessings upon him and his "school" if he were to hire you.
You'd probably even be willing to wave your first month's...... or hell....
your first years salary! You're such a commited believer in the astronomical growth potential of the hagwan world that you're willing to put your arse on the line and work one whole year .....free ... just to proove it!

All he wants is someone who is legal to teach in Korea, that means you have at least a BA, which I think you said you had long ago, along with all of your other fantastic qualifications.
But I'll tell him you've got degrees coming out of both your "yin" and "yang" and you'll be the mostest overestiest qualifiedistest real teacher to ever grace the shores of the land of morning calm.

We mere mortals can only marvel at your multi-faceted achievments.

If you are really serious about the job, pm me for details.

And for good measure I'll tell him that you are majorly opposed to Japan's recent claims to Dok-do and that you are in the process of devising a plan to shame those evil, imperialistic, heathen swine into admitting their guilt, and when you are done with them the Japanese shall bow at the feet of Koreans in all public places, just to show how wrong they were.

Do you think it'll work?

And this almost made me spill my easy-to-find PC-bang coffee all over the keyboard this morning as the nerds around me were wondering what could be so funny about a grey and white screen. The sad part is that in six months I could probably post something similar and it would be true.
