Who likes it? I personally hate it. I genuinely believe that it is the worst food in Korea. I love most Korean food (even miss some dishes when I am in the UK) but kimchi is just disgusting. |

I don't like it. I love it. Once I learn how to make it, there'll be no stopping me. Put that in the diet for the next 50 years.
It's lunchtime. I think I'll have some right now. |

I love the stuff. Im hooked for life. The older it is the better too. Although new kimchi is great too. I cant eat a meal without it...unless its cereal or something. But I eat kimchi with pizza. |

There is such a thing as high and low quality kimchi. The crap you get in a kimbap shop is awful 99% of the time, but I've been to a handful of restaurants that had perfect kimchi, and the older stuff usually tastes great on the grill. |

I agree with Zyzyfer. I like good Kimchi, but there is also plenty of bad product out there. |

Hell NO! Stinks! Taste awful.
All the koreans I have worked with over the years reek of kimchee and when they talk...bad breath.
That's some nasty stuff! But hey...power to you if you like and enjoy it!
If I do eat it, I wash the cabbage kimchee before eating it...rid it of the garlic, red pepper, etc. I can eat garlic...but not mixed with the other kimchee fixings.
That's just some foul smelling stuff. And even many koreans I know also say the same thing...but...the are hooked on it! |

The greatest kimchi i've ever had was composed of smaller, yellowish leaves (i'm assuming from the core of the cabbage). Anyone know the name of this kimchi? I couldn't get enough of the shit when i had it.
2nd best is fried kimchi...
but ya, i'm addicted to it too. |

My mother in law makes kimchi without any of the garlic or red pepper stuff. I love that when I can eat it. I actually prefer it to the usual spicy kimchi. |

Only fresh, crunchy Seoul kimchi.
The stuff out in the country is rancid. Koreans think I can't eat it because it's spicy. Hell no. I choose not to eat it because it's way too old and sour. Too bitter. |

Sometimes I think I want kimchi, and I see it and I think, "hey maybe it tastes good this time" and then I have one bite and I don't want any more. It's not like I hate it. I don't know what's wrong with me. Everyday I feel so optimistic about it, like maybe today it's going to be really good. I never really want more than one bite per meal, though.
But... I love kimchi chigae, especially on a cold afternoon.

Actually, Seoul kimchi is crap. The stuff from Gyeongnsangnam-do is great. |

That's known as the worst place in Korea to eat. Generally, Cholla province is considered the best place to eat any food in Korea. |

My girlfriends parents in Gunsan, Cholla-do, send her kimchi now and then. It tastes too old, fishy, off, and, generally, BAD!!
But, of course, this is a subjective discussion so each to their own. |

I like kimchi....especially the radish kimchi...my mother in law taught me how to make radish, green onion and cabbage kimchi. How fishy it is depends on the person I think....she doesn't put a lot of that fish sauce in hers so its not fishy at all...I like her kimchi more than anything else I've had. She is from jeonju....but perhaps she has adjusted her recipe ...sometimes she sends kimchi with pears in it....its really REALLY good... I can't say I'm fussy about the green onion kimchi..my husband eats that...but hey if you have a cold and want to clear your sinuses...give it a try.. |
