Oh well, an awesome Friday, just walked down to Texas street, bought a Corona for 3,000 won, sat on a couple of stacked milk carton cases and drank the golden beer, sun shining, actually I was in the middle of two streets, on my left was the regular Korean street, busy people walking down, in a hurry, some running, they were all in the shade..........on my right was Texas street, in the sun, a few Russian sailors passed trying to open a bottle of wine. Those two streets have such contrast, I felt like I was in the middle of a stream with cold water running on my left side, and warm water on my right. On Texas street a foreigner can blend in, sort of like Kho Son road in bangkok, no stares, the only stress is avoiding the people who sell phone cards. On the Korean street there is a sort of stress that comes from the busy life of most Koreans, azumas pushing past you, big high school guys mocking with 'hello, I english no". The Koreans on the Texas street have a really cool mentality. One old lady who often sells me corona is herself drinking soju. she states "sometimes I just want to feel crazy". She is fat, kind face, and if I buy a cassett tape she will play it on her little tape player. Last week I bought a BAD COMPANY tape, she cranked it up, G,I's, teachers, Russian sailors, Philippino merchants, everybody just had a peaceful relaxed feeling, I guess we all feel comfortable on that street. If we each walk 20 feet, back onto the Korean street we are all sort of 'freaks', but we own Texas street, and it is a good feeling.

Sometimes I miss the days I lived in Pusan.. sometimes.

Wouldn't mind being in a Texas Street/Russia Town area tonight on Saturday night though. That was always fun.

Always good for at least 3 times a month.. any more than that and too much though.
