So whats the deal with Korea and recycling?
I bought a 'garbage' bag for my garbage.. and then I put my bottles and cans and such in a regular bag (as I assume they will be recycled).
I put them out in front of my apartment and later I realized someone opened up my 'recycle bag' and shoved in a bunch of the plastic containers.
So.. SECOND TIME. I do the exact same thing and separate a pizza box from the other two (as noticed Koreans come around collecting cardboard to recycle). I leave my apartment and come back and notice someone once again shoved some more plastic in my 'paid-for garbage bag' and then wrote in a big black marker something in Korea on the back side of the pizza box starting with the Korean word "WHY!" and then continued with some explanation/clarification in Korean.
So whats the deal with that? |

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "the other two"?
Koreans always do this, and other Koreans hate it too. My friend said it's more fun to tie the bag as tightly as possible to make it hell to open it. |

sorry i'm not explaining it right today.
I took my trash out.. and had:
1) One bag of trash in a paid-for trash bag.
2) Second bag of bottles and cans in a regular bag for what I thought would be recycling.
Someone came by and shoved my recyclables in the paid-for trash bag with the rest of the garbage.
Second time I took my trash out, I had:
1) One bag of trash in a paid-for trash bag.
2) Second bag of bottles and cans in a regular bag for what I thought would be recycling.
3) Separated pizza box which I would assume would be recycling as well.
BUT second time someone once again came by and shoved my plastics into my regular garbage and then wrote on my pizza box in a big black marker along the lines of "WHY???!!!??" + more Korean.
So I am assuming I am doing something wrong here. But I just don't know what it is exactly. |

Maybe thats what it is.. because I don't see anyone else's trash.. I just take it out whenever my trash is full.
I have a feeling things are A LOT more organized where I'm living now than anywhere else I've lived in Korea. |
