Okay, so my licence has expired (3 years ago!) and I have decided I want to drive a car again...Yes I know- a death wish!

I seem to remember reading something about drivers testing be done in English. Has anyone heard anything about this or is it wishful thinking? Anyone taken a written exam and driving test in Korea? How difficult will it be for me with my low beginner Korean language skills?

I live in Daejeon if that makes a difference...

Thanks all!

Written test is in English. Driving test...you might get lucky and get an English-speaking driver, but it will probably be in Korean. Learn some car Korean if you intend to go that route.

What matters is your nationality.

Americans have to write a test. I am a Canuck and was in and out in 10 minutes...had a driving test in the car I drove to the license place in (sans license) and went for a quick coffee with the instructor.

He admitted afterward he didn't need me to drive, but he wanted to see how a foreigner copes with Korean traffic.
