The WWE is no different from all those stupid and self-important performance art things. Atleast the WWE is interesting while performance art is done by a bunch of physically weak weenies without a sex life who think they are so freaking smart. "Oh look, Im spouting crap while pretending to be a tree or a chair. Yes, Im so smart and Im such a great artiste"

I'm never one to pass up pissing people off, so here's my take:

Wrestling is stupid. There is no getting around that fact. It doesn't mean that someone can't find it entertaining(case in point most 'reality' TV shows are dumb as hell and as popular as hell). As for why it's stupid, well, two guys pretending to hit each other, in fact, pretending to do a lot of things, just ain't all that smart. This is especially true because it is so obviously fake, something that is incredibly apparent when you flip to any other channel here in Korea that is showing pride or ultimate fighting, or kicking boxing. When something is popular I always try to watch/figure out why, but I can't bear to watch wrestling for more than 30 seconds. The talking in the ring, the fake hitting... it's just annoying.

That being said, I can see why women would thoroughly enjoy it, as one respondent has pointed out. As for the guys that like it.... Wink

Fake eh? Ok, so is every TV show, every movie. Every play, every novel. Shakespeare is fake. Proust is fake. Are they stupid cause they are fake? WWE is fake but they admit it. Its not about who wins or loses, its the storylines and character development that drives wrestling. I think its people who dont get that, and not actually the wrestling, that are stupid and annoying. I mean how annoying must a person be to harp on the fakeness of wrestling when they admit freely that its fake. Its like complaining that water is wet.

I think it's more a kin to claim you're drinking beer when you're actually drinking water.

How? The WWE hides nothing when it comes to the fakeness of it all. Its pretty much a known fact that its fake, all the fans know it.

Kick and punch happy WWE is fake, in that it's scripted and the athletes aren't actually trying to injure each other, but there are other wrestling organizations out there that are more realistic. That being said, there are still a lot of injuries in wrestling, so it's not like two guys pillowfighting or something.

I've tried watching Pride and other fighting shows, but they tend to be so boring to watch, since everyone tends to spend more time on the ground smothering each other than anything else.

I think the wrestling topic should be added to that list of topics that come up every 6 months or so and seem pretty redundant.

Good point. The fights are scripted but theres nothing fake about taking a 30 foot drop off a cage onto a table.

I wish the world could be more like a wrestling show. I wish all the leaders weighed over 300 pounds and and had metal taped to their bodies and spoke in a way as if they never recieved a 6th grade education. I wish settle their differences by putting on giant shows in sports arenas. I wish I could see them emerge from opposite sides of the arena in a overdone display of smoke and lasers to a heavy metal soundtrack and then proceed to shout expletives at each other for the next two hours before enaging a staged fight in front of thousands of people in the audince watching and waving confederate flags.

Then, after our dispuptes have been resolved, we can all go home and jerk off to pictures of muscular women with names like Lushious and Reel Steel.

Yes, that would be prefect.

Translation: I don't like it/I'm frightened by my body's reaction to it, hence it's wrong, different, and shouldn't be allowed.

Congratulations! You've gone native.

Okay, I want to guess this without Googling. What is the WWE? The World Wrestling ....Ehhh... Entertainment? no... Enterprise? no.... Establishment???... No, no, no....

Ehhh.... I give up! Sad

But the Guru does recall watching Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant do battle in the dim and distant past. I thought it was called "World Wrestling Federation"... is that some rival organisation?

And there was the Undertaker, some guy with a snake, some other dude who used to hit his opponents with a long wooden plank! Laughing Crazy. And one... he was a professional Scotsman of sorts (Scottish-American?) and he'd march out in his kilt, playing the bagpipes. Who else.... Oh yeah, lots of banter from this funny short little bald guy who both reffed matches and played the pipe organ??

Weird, half-remembered stuff from my early years here... when I used to watch what was then called AFKN TV.

Surprising that so many of you are into this! Very Happy

The World Wrestling Federation had to change it's name to World Wrestling Entertainment due to a lawsuit from the World Wildlife Fund who wanted exclusive rights to the WWF initials.

My favourite wrestler is JBL.

People who say they "hate" wrestling or that it's "stupid" just aren't cool. I hate everyone who is not cool.

Wrestling might be fake, but last time I checked Bruce Willis is still alive even though he was killed in 12 Monkeys. All forms of entertainent are fake. That's the point. It is only ENTERTAINMENT.

That being said.... Let this discussion Rest in Peace.......

Yes, fair enough. Although Wrestling calls itself a sport but movies don't call themselves documentaries. Smile

I didn't let it rest in peace...Oh and I hate soap operas/dramas/ whatever you call them.
