John Cena is the biggest poser. I hope the Big Show choke slams him into hell.

Knowing WWE wrestling goes a long way with elementary school age students. I don't know how many times I've threatened misbehaving kids with a choke slam/power bomb/etc.

I'm a MMA (mixed martial arts) ala PRIDE or UFC fan myself. I have some friends at home who do MMA and it's pretty cool. Nothing like seeing a 180 lb guy making a 260 lb guy submit with an armbar.

Yes, fair enough. Although Wrestling calls itself a sport but movies don't call themselves documentaries. Smile

I didn't let it rest in peace...Oh and I hate soap operas/dramas/ whatever you call them.

WWE calls itself Sports Entertainment.

Wow.....That list could be my list...maybe we are twins separated at birth.....Or not.

I watch wrestling and I do tae kwon do. The kids think it's cool since I am a wee woman and all. It's a great way to get spontaneous conversation as well.

e.g.
Me: Did you watch wrestlemania?
Student: No, I didn't.
Me: Really? I taped it on my VCR.
Student: (Look of jealousy) Wow! Who is your favorite wrestling, teacher? it goes off on a tangent from there....

Any Canadians remember Stampede Wrestling (from back in the 70's and early/mid 80's..not the crap they tried to put out in the 90's)?
Now THAT was wrestling..Ed Whalen (who must've known it was fake, but sold it so well) J.R. Foley (the greatest manager of all time), Wakamatsu, all the Hart bros., Makhan Singh and the Great Gamma (who formed Karachi Vice) and Sikigawa. So many great wrestlers got their starts their (all the Harts, the British Bulldogs, Benoit et al)
I remember when a reporter tried to tell Dave "DR.D" Schultz that wrestling was fake, so Dr.D put the guy in a sleeper and choked him out in a hotel lobby in Calgary....classic.
"We're gonna Party with the Flames, Mr.Whalen...and you're not invited!!!"

Drug Testing Coming to TV Wrestling
By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN, Associated Press Writer
Sun Dec 4, 7:09 PM ET

STAMFORD, Conn. - Following the death of one of pro wrestling's biggest stars, World Wrestling Entertainment says it is starting random drug testing to detect illicit drugs, steroids and prescription drug abuse among its performers.

( Question: Aren't steroids illicit drugs? Why the repetition? )

Eddie Guerrero, 38, had struggled with drug abuse for years before he was found dead last month in a Minneapolis hotel shortly before a show.

The medical examiner has yet to rule on the cause of death, but Guerrero's widow has said she was told an autopsy showed signs of heart disease, which she blamed on his past alcohol and drug abuse combined with an aggressive workout regimen.

"This is the first time a superstar of this magnitude has passed away on a national promotion," Dave Meltzer, editor of Wrestling Observer, said. "I'm sure they are going to have to do a lot of thinking."

WWE, whose wrestling programming is among the highest-rated on cable television, said it will announce details of the new testing procedure in the coming weeks. Chairman Vince McMahon told wrestlers last week that the new policy would involve frequent, random tests conducted by an independent agency Laughing

The policy is going to be very fair. No special consideration for any one," McMahon said

Vince McMahon was only an ordinary-size , middle-age guy. Now, in his old age, he has this huge muscular body. He obviously has been on the "juice," and it's well-known among wrestling insiders that the WWE prefers to market extraordinarily large performers, and it has not - up till Eddie's death - really discouraged the use of steroids and growth hormones by its "superstars." Hopefully, some real changes will be made in that regard (at least for a while...) Like it-or not- these guys (and girls?) are more-or-less role-models for kids, and I think many Korean students (through the high school level) like to dangerously imitate them...

Many Western kids like to imitate wrestlers too. Heck, I can vaguely remember dishing out a drunken Walls of Jericho to a buddy of mine in first year University (to be fair, I don't watch wrestling anymore, and do not perform wrestling moves either). The same kid also got quite a few ankle locks, but he was a mouthy guy. Wrestling is fine when you're younger I think, but eventually you need to grow up.

And BTW, Bret Hart is still the greatest.

I dislike Carlito i find him to be just as much as a big mouth as Cena is. Laughing . I love how WWE is bringing back all the old timers.. Ie. Stone Cold, Man Kind, Goldust was on, Hacksaw.. all the old boys.. i always remember playing with my bam bam bigilo and bobby the brain wrestlers as a kid. I partly watch it because of the athleticism (sp?) some of the stuff they do is pretty cool.. I could talk with my gr 1 and 2 students for 40 minutes straight about WWE I bet..

My favorite: Batista and Big show.. I would love to see those guys fight.. one pure muscle big versus big big.. who would win anybody wanna guess?
