Man Koreans sure don't know wether to make up their mind on the US pull out.
Man Koreans want their Big mac combo just with out all the callories and fat.
They should be protesting the ROK government. |

again, this would mean alot more US contractor jobs will open and if you are lucky and have access (or a friend who does have access), you can see what jobs are available.
The sad part is that most jobs are posted exclusively for family members, which I know goes against the EOE program and the EO directive, thanks to the SOFA clause that states they can't hire Americans locally |

No entirely true....
Local American citizen's can be hired directly to work on the U.S. military bases....IF they have a "clean passport" meaning no korean resident stamp, ie: no E1, E2, etc..and at times it can depend on "who you know." If the military powers to be want you for a particular position...you'll get it, in spite of the red tape.
For those who have a visa stamped in their passport other than a tourist visa....the "rules state" that one has to leave korea and establish residency back home for a period of time (how long? varies....6 months to one year) and then return to korea with a tourist visa and apply.
As for jobs exclusivly for family members....that's the way it should be...looking out for their own. A person who is a retired military member is more likely to get hired over a non military person for a base position. Same with families of active duty members....first choice. |
