Does your 100% love and respect for your girlfriend include posting her picture up on the internet for hundreds of anonymous seoulites to view, in an effort to try and "fetishize her"?

Yeah! Eat your heart out.

so you've told her then? I can't see how any balanced person would post pics of his girlfriend all over the net without her express permission, in order to try and force himself to feel more attracted to her. Still, do whatever you feel it takes. Laughing

I love my girlfriend and to me she is the most beautiful person imaginable. And I'm going to idolize her. Got a problem with that? I'm sure you do. Come back to me when you've put together a stable, emotionally enriching relationship. Until then, keep being a wonderful example of how not to live your life to the rest of the members of Dave's. You're fun to laugh at.

That's your gf in the avatar pic? Until I had only read your other posts I had assumed it was you. Do you get any pms from guys who think it's you wanting to meet you? One could make some comments about the over-all sexual attractiveness of one person's blurry photo and another's on-line personality combined at this point, but as a 'nice guy' I'll just reassure you that I don't think you have to worry too much about strangers from the internet making a fetish of your gf. Seriously, though, do you have her tattoo on your arm as well?

Fortunately, I guess, I couldn't imagine having a relationship with anyone from my place of work.

That's not my concern. What matters is I've found someone I think is beautiful. That's she's real and loves me back makes her only more wonderful and beautiful to me. It's my response to users who fetishize bikini models in their avatars yet seem miserable with the state of their own singlehood.

The movie Beautiful Girls is a great think piece on the obsession average looking men have with models:

Quote:
Gina: Oh, guys, look what we have here. Look at this, your favorite. Oh, you like that?

Tommy: I could go along with that.

Gina: Yeah, that's nice right? Well, it doesn't exist ok. Look at the hair. The hair is long, it's flowing, it's like a river. Well, it's a fucking weave ok? And the *beep*, please! I could hang my overcoat on them. *beep* by design were invented to be suckled by babies. Yes, they're purely functional. These are silicon city. And look, my favorite, the shaved pubis. Pubic hair being too unruly and all. Very key. This is a mockery, this is a sham, this is bullshit. Implants, collagen, plastic, capped teeth, the fat sucked out, the hair extended, the nose fixed, the bush shaved... These are not real women, all right? They're beauty freaks. And they make all us normal women with our wrinkles, our puckered boobs, hi bob, and our cellulite feel somehow inadequate. Well I don't buy it, all right? But you fucking mooks, if you think that if there's a chance in hell that you'll end up with one of these women, you don't give us real women anything approaching a commitment. It's pathetic. I don't know what you think you're going to do. You're going to end up eighty-years old, drooling in some nursing home, then you're going to decide, it's time to settle down, get married, have kids? What, are you going to find a cheerleader?

Willie: I think you're over simplifying.

Gina: Oh eat me. Look at Paul. With his models on the wall, his dog named Elle McPherson. He's insane. He's obsessed. You're all obsessed. If you had an once of self-esteem, of self-worth, of self-confidence, you would realize that as trite as it may sound, beauty is truly skin-deep. And you know what, if you ever did hook one of those girls, I guarantee you'd be sick of her.

Tommy: Yeah, I suppose I'd get sick of her after about, what, twenty or thirty years?

I won't ever get Elle McPherson or a Korean race queen model. But I can find something real and make it my own piece of heaven. And that's my point with my avatar. She's real. She's mine. And I'm happy. And Rapier ain't. Ha!

In answer to the original question.....

I dated 3 Korean co-teachers in my time here...

If you are straight up with them when you break up, be honest i found i haven't had any problems...sure the hurt lasts a while but after a week, it all worked out and there were no awkward bits.......just be an adult about it.
And the 3rd one i started dating i still am 3 years on so it does work out sometimes to all the doomsayers!! Very Happy

To mindmetoo,
I think it is great the you have found someone you love and adore and feel it is the same way from her.

However, I don't think it is too wise to be posting her picture up here either. There are enough whack-job internet boys in Korea that one day might troll across this and decide that Korean woman and foriegn man shouldn't be together, they could track her down and give her a hard time.

Call me paranoid but I sure don't korean frat-boys to see a picture of my girlfriend on this site.....

Have you asked her permission????

I'm very happy with my own state of singlehood. I blew out a potential girlfriend only a week ago, and have done the same to around 9 Koreans I've dated in the past year. Singledom is my choice. So don't fantasize you're somehow superior because you have "A korean girlfriend" (big deal, woohoo!).

She's real? I would hope so.Have you been with wax models up til now? She's yours? Ownership is a highly flawed concept in relationships. I presume you keep her in the cupboard and bring her out when you want to play? You own her, do you?

I'm perfectly happy. Your happiness depends upon being validated by someone else.

Hahaha Exclamation get over yourself. And don't forget to ask belated permission from your pet for posting her pics all over the net. And remember to reassure her that you did it for you. Wink

If you don't mind being mistaken for a dorky Korean with outstanding English skills, it makes a good avatar, I suppose.

I married my coworker crush. I say go for it! However, if I were you I would keep it a secret from the management and the Koreans (even the other foreign teachers if possible, it is possible but not always necessary), and never bring your relationship to work. Keep it professional and standoff-ish at work and enjoy your time together after work.

All you have to do to get yourself back on the love map is to ask her to do something with her sometime, alone, and then be your own sharming self. Don't be a coward and let it pass you by. You said before that you sensed a mutual attraction so, what do you have to lose but a little dignity if she says no? Take the plunge or perish in regret later, it's your decision.
