Hey guys, I need some advice on prime holiday spots.

I was informed this week that I will be able to take my vacation in the first two weeks of August. From what I've heard August is a horrendous month in Korea (very hot and humid). My plan is to take a trip abroad.

I'm interested in going to Thailand, but it's the rainy season. There's also China which is as big as a continent..... sigh! I guess the options are numerous.....

I was wondering if anyone has taken their vacation around the same time....... any good advice?

I must say that Thailand is awesome in the Summer! Lots of people don't like it, but the place is not crowded, the hotels are usually at a discount, and there are always great things to do! I will be in London! And then Ireland, some place cooler, it gets too hot here, not much to do except go to an aircon P.C room and drink cokes.

I have to second what Mercury said. Summer is low season and you'll find good prices and less crowded beaches.

Don't worry about rainy season. Typically you get 20-60 minutes of rain in the afternoon - just enough to cool things off. Sometimes you might get a long rain in the middle of the night. Rarely does the rain really interfere with your plans. If not for the rain it would be hot hot hot.

I love a good tropical shower. The whole place smells wonderful after one. Cleans the air, washes the roads, and all the trees and bushes say, "Ahhhhhhh."

Kick back - enjoy it.

If heat and humidity are the problem, I would not suggest Thailand.

Have you considered Saipan or Guam? They are decent places, but also hot. If cool in August is what you are looking for, Korea is a long way from anyplace that will offer that.

The mountains in the northern part of The Philippines are beautiful, and quite cooler than the rest of the country.

Special package at 599,999won or $600 to Thailand, Pattaya, Singapore, and HK for 7 days in mid and late April.

It was great and cheap. However, there are many option tours that can costs from $35-$50 and there is a Korean guide.

Click under southeastasia package. Then click under page 3 at the bottom of the webpage and scroll down to the middle. This website is in only Korean, so you might need an interpreter.

The website is at kb.freedom.co.kr

How much money are you willing to spend?

The website tourcabin.co.kr has some good prices and deals.

Ha, I was thinking the same thing.

Why not stay in Korea, fly down to Jeju (book well in advance), rent a car and on the southern side of the Island there are plenty of beaches that never get to crowded, as well as cheap min-bak's and the bonus of having a car.

I went to Vietnam a couple augusts ago & had a great time. I flew to Hanoi & made that my base of operations. Hot, sticky, an occasional refreshing rain. Sidetrips to Sapa in the mountains & Halong Bay, both awesome. I highly recommend it.

Was in Phuket a few weeks ago.

A great time to be in Phuket right now - Great food and beautiful beaches all to ourselves!

Service was also pretty good this time around.

I have exactly 4 more weeks of classes and then I'm off to Phuket and Ko Samui again!
