I've been tuned in to cable TV channels since February. Just the cheap version, not fancy Sky or anything. Everything was fine and dandy, until...

Last weekend I noticed that some had channels had switched around a bit, e.g. BBC had been 34, but changed to 77 (which was National Geographic, which changed to something else). This is the first time I have encountered this!

Today I got home to find that a few more had changed (like Donga was 51 and now is 76; Discovery 77>72; and BBC changed again!).

Anyone know why this is happening? I have not touched my remote control so I know I haven't unwittingly retuned the channels....

I don't know why this happens but it seems to happen a couple of times a year. Some channels disappear, new ones appear. It's just one of those things.

I rarely watch TV but I noticed this a while ago. It has happened in all the houses I've lived in (3) in Korea. Don't know why though, sorry!

I seem to have the same cable set up as you. Same channels etc. Yeah I got the change but don't seem to be missing any channels. Sometimes it works in your favor and you get a free trial version of a really cool channel like HBO for 6 weeks or so.

Thanks for your replies.
At least I am not the only one!

The only fear I have is that some of the channels I regularly record programmes off will change to higher than 51, which is the highest my ancient VCR will go... (fingers crossed this won't happen. although I wouldn't mind Onstyle or Discovery changing to a lower number... Cool )

It's been my experience with a couple of cable providers here in Seoul that the changes are announced beforehand via both an insert in your monthly bill and on whatever channel is your local-access channel.

Aaargghhhhhhhhhhh!!

It's happened AGAIN!

Grrrrr - why is this happening so much all of a sudden?

P.S. I am not in Seoul, but the company I get billed by is Hanvitnet... I cannot imagine they could give me a notice that says "and we'll randomly be changing all your channel numbers every day in the last week of April"... Crying or Very sad But I will endeavour to peruse said insert with more effort next time, just in case!

It just happened to me and I lost AFNK. Not that I'm too upset but I'm gonna miss Scrubs on Sunday nights.
