Has anyone here used the Cambridge texts, Let's Talk and Interchange?
How would you compare these books - similar or not?
Does anyone here prefer one series to the other - if so, why? |

Let's Talk: Too much listening, not enough talking! SOME of the activities are ok for those with a reasonable command of English, but most are too difficult or too boring.
I haven't used the NEW New Interchange (used the OLD New Interchange a LOT!), but it seems pretty good, with a lot of pair work and interactive activities, as well as a fairly good focus on grammar. |

thanks, ajuma.
i also may lean more towards the 2005 Interchange.
More controlled practice but that's what I'm looking for.
I agree - Let's Talk is a pretty boring series and I'd avoid using it again. |

I teach a class of advanced Middle School boys. We use the Let's Talk series. I thought it was a little difficult for them but they want to use it very much. Maybe a status thing? I expand the talking exercises and we break down some of the more complicated listening exercises into parts and they listen repeatedly. It seems to work well.

Don't use the New Interchange for younger kids, its very very inappropriate for their age level. |
