A buddy of mine recently came to Korea and this kid was a total chick magnet back home, guy looks like a movie star (by Western standards) . You'd immediately think that the Korean girls would be all over him. He's only been here for 6 weeks, but the girls he's met have immediately tossed him off as being a playboy without any reason beside that fact that he's good looking..."I think you have many girlfriend". The only ones he's been able to pull are the hoes out of Itaewon when I took him to Limelight (who just wanna f---). Anything quality just assumes he's a playboy and they don't want to get involved...there's nothing he does that makes them believe that he is one...how can this guy get passed this?

I would say find a way to meet girls where they can get to know something about him first- introduction from a friend, chatting online, language exchange- something where it's not just based on appearances.

I presume "tossed him off" is not in the good way that my Brit upbringing makes me think of.

I think Swiss James is right on this one. He could join some sort of group activity where he can show his personality without the, "I am on the pull" overtones that can come in 1-1 meetings or in bars.

I don't understand why he should have a problem...there are many bar hoes that sleep with 100 guys while they remain a proclaimed "virgin" to their Oppas on their cyworld page. Maybe he's already meeting the nice girls who are skeptical? If so, he should take the advice from Swiss James and meet them in a non-bar venue.
And please tell him to stay away from bar-hoes. A pretty face like his? It'd be a shame if it was contaminated with STD's.

One thing I have noticed and I am not talking about myself in particular is if a guy had game back home he might not necessarily have game here. It can also take this stud a few months to get into the groove over here.

If a guy back home had no game, he might have game here.

It really is a strange thing and I bet it could be very worthy of a sociological investigation.

yeah this is a problem for sure... in seoul in particular, i think. it just seems like a lot of people think foreigners in korea are a bunch of uncivilised animals and so if you are a girl interested in just having wild times, itaewon is a good place to go. which is probably why so many guys who couldn't get laid back home love it so much.
meeting a nice girl who takes you as you are, rather than as a token waygookin, is more difficult. the best way i think is to just be more korean; make friends with korean guys as well as girls, involve yourself in society more, and forget about itaewon (it's a craphole anyway). and doing that has rewards in itself, as you'll get to understand and like korea more. it amazes me how many people complain about koreans, yet the only koreans they really know are itaewon tarts and their shady hagwon boss.

If you look in the newspapers sometimes, you can find some clubs to join like the Korean Friendship Society or something and I know this might sound corny, but how about joining a church.
Believe it or not, alot of people get hooked up at church because the pastors are always asked if they know a nice guy/gal to meet.

In Korea, most clubs or get-togethers are usually used as places to "break the ice" since it is looked down upon for a person to just go up to a someone and start talking.

Also, is your friend young?
That could be another "minus" because Korean girls automatically take young guys as coming to Korea to find "eh-hem...." Alot of girls tend to go for the "fatherly" approach because in their eyes "The older they are, the more stable and financially secure they are", thats why you see alot of the 20-something hotties with the 30 or 40-something burnouts.

When I was young, I had alot of fun back home too. When I came to Korea, I was viewed as a little boy. Now that I'm just shy-ought away from my 30th birthday, alot of girls are talking to me.

So here, age might be a curse as well as a blessing

enough said....
