|
|
i just read about it on line. i guess two female nurses in daegu had too much fun with babies. the nurses posted baby pics on their cyworld website and somehow got busted. korean people are outraged by the images of innocent babies 'tortured and abused' by the two nurses. i am sure i will hear about different demonstrations and candle light vigis to send the two nurses to jail.
now, here's my question for you. what do you feel when you see the image below? do you feel outraged? upset? angry? saddened?

It's safe to say you're right Harin. Those nurses are crazy.
At best you put them in an institution and give them the help they need.
At worst, you put them in the institution, pump them full of meds, and let the camera roll. |

Jail? Come on. It's unprofessional what they did, sure. What they need is a stern talking to from an administrator and maybe a couple weeks suspension so they can think about taking their jobs seriously.
They weren't hurting the babies. Just playing with them and dressing them up. Jeez, there's a huge industry in dressing up babies and taking pictures of them. Take a walk through any mall in Korea to see the proof.
Firing them is going too far. Demonizing them is beyond the pale. And putting them in jail... let's lock up a few wife beaters first, huh? |

I agree with you. I can think of a number of things I'd rather see taken of seriously first, than these photos. |

I don't know...it looks like serious disrespect for human life to me. I wouldn't do those things to a dog, let alone a helpless infant. Those women have got holes in their souls, and I question what other sorts of abuses they would commit if they thought they could get away with it.
Remember the kids in school who would kick stray dogs and burn ants with magnifying glasses and stuff like that? I'm guessing these are two such people. |

I'm in two minds about whether they deserve jail so just let the lawyers decide if they broke any laws and if so go to trial. But even if they weren't hurting the babies - probably weren't - they still deserve to be fired, for poor judgement at the very least. |

Could you please post the original link, or write exactly where (which hospital) this took place?
Thanks |

Still...it is horrifying to see....especially the first shot where she's squashing the babies face together and the baby in the bag! My husband freaked out when he saw these photos...it's got to hit a raw nerve here. I wonder how the parents of these babies are taking legal action (and I sure hope they do!!) |

These are terrible photos
But you know what makes me sick, its the fact that these women will most likely get punished lightly and people would forget about it in almost no time.
Where as if you hear that a foreign teacher had abused their kindergarden students, the news will be spread throughout the country and there will be a backlash that could be far worse
that the E!~#%^&^ S#$^%&* incident.
A man kills nearly 200 innocent passengers on a commuter subway train and is forgiven and passed off as a "disturbed man"
A foreigner does something bad, and the rest of the community is judged and persecuted for that bad apple
....I can't wait to see the Korean apologists come running to the rescue of Korea......sad |

Unless things have changed recently, Korea doesn't have child abuse on the books.
Everytime I do a "difference in law cultures" topic (where they discuss REAL Western court cases), I always have to explain what "child abuse" is and what it isn't (the case that brings this up is a woman who leaves her 5-year old alone in the house everyday while she goes out to the neighbours for hours to gossip). Would Koreans see these pictures as unprofessional behaviour (probably). Would they see them as child abuse? Probably not.
