| Why? It's a matter of hygiene. Koreans have some of the cleanest floors in the world. Plus, they sit on the floor, although not in the schools. It's just a cultural norm here not to wear shoes indoors. |
Are you drunk? As far as hagwons go, Koreans use the same mops to mop the classroom floors as they do the bathroom floors. They are none too clean. As for personal homes, sure, they sweep up every once in a while, but they're no cleaner than floors in Canada or the States. In fact, they might even be less so. Most of the ajumas I know have little concept of bacteria, germs and how frequently you need to change sponges and dishcloths. |

True, true... saying that Koreans have some of the cleanest floors may give the impression that the poster is posting drunk. I have to wear slippers when at work, which I think is ridiculous, given the filthy condition of the floors. One day I wore flip-flops to work. So shoot me!
Hey, I hear that kiwis call flip-flops "JANDLES"... what the..??? Where could this possibly have come from. |

Jandals = Japanese Sandals
I think it originated during WW2 (but I could be wrong).[/b] |
