Here's the rundown of my situation: got my F2-1 visa+ next day my beloved hagwon goes out of business,+ live in Cheongju where there are crap for jobs (unless I want to work at a crappy kid's hagwon)=unemployed and frustrated

I got my F2-1 issued by Cheongju immigration. I might have to look elsewhere for a decent job (like Seoul). My husband has to stay in Cheongju and work....but there is no work for me in this small city.
Can I work in another city apart from my husband? Or am I only allowed by immigration to work in Cheongju because of my husband's sponsership and address in this city? I hate to work away from my husband but right now I need to make money so I we can go to the U.S next year.
Another issue is probably accomodation. I take it no school is going to let an F2 person live in their apartment if they know I have a Korean husband (thinking he would come by a lot). Have any of you F2 people had problems with schools giving you accomodation?
Also with F2, do you need a release letter....my wonderful boss fled after the business bombed and can't find him. Even with my brand new F2, immigration won't allow me to cancel my E2 without my boss signing a form (and i can't find that bastard)

You don't need to stay in Cheongju to work just because you have a visa from Cheongju. As far as I know, you are free to move around the country.

A friend works in Gwangju at Chosun University but his visas are issued in Incheon because that's where his family lives.

They should give you accommodation if you request it. Another friend lives in Incheon whilst her K-husband lives in Busan. Her university gives her accommodation. I think you just need to ask for it. BTW.. Daejeon is not really that far from Cheongju... bus takes only about 40 minutes and if you drive, it's even quicker. You might want to consider that. That way, you can go home at night!

You shouldn't need a release letter. If they don't cancel your E2, then just transfer your sponsorship from the school to your husband. Instead of getting a separate working visa, you will have *permission to engage in activities not in sojourn* (or something like that).

I assume you can work anywhere in Korea with an F2 visa. You might need to take the documents to the immigration office in Cheongju to get the back of your ARC stamped, even though your new job isn't in Cheongju, becuase your F2 is your primary visa. I'm just guessing though and who knows what the idiots at the immigration office will have you do. Basically, it shouldn't be a problem though.

I've found that schools don't care if you're married or not when it comes to apartments. They generally don't have a problem with couples living together in the apartment provided.

I don't think you need a letter of release if you have an F2 visa. At least, that's what the idiots at the immigration office told me when I called.

I got my F2-1 originally in Seoul, then worked down south, extended there and then came up to Seoul again tand worked on a visa extended in masan. You can work anywhere you want.

As long as your physical address matches the address immigration has, and it is noted on the back of your immigration card, where you actually reside is not a problem.
My wife lived in worked in Daejeon for a year before I came up here. When I finally moved up here I just had to register my address change at the local Gu office and that was it. I took a 2 month vacation traveling around Korea before I looked for a new job. For my new E-2 immigration just asked where iI had been for 2 months and that was it. No problems at all with my wife and I maintaining seperate residences or anything. The F-2 really is a liberating document.

Once you land a job and get some accomodation... you just have to register the new address of your physical location .. within two weeks... no big deal
