Good question Corporal...
Amazing how some begin with "I have heard that..." (A Cliff Claven approach) and then og on to spout facts about this " I heard"...outstanding. |

No. But the Korean women I've dated have told me how I'm different from the Korean men they've been out on dates with. And that's one thing they always seem to mention. |

True. You don't even have to ask. |

Of course that's what they say. Meanwhile, when they are with their Korean boyfriends--because you're not naive enough to think you're their one and only, do you?--they are assuring the K-men that they would never want to date a hairy white hagwon monkey.
(It's like the story of the loyal Thai girlfriend who needs you to send her money every month so she can look after her aging grandmother. ) |

Yep that must be it. Like "Honey, I'm just going to go drink soju after work with my other male coworkers." The husband isn't going to a room salon. Oh no. Or "I will never come home drunk at night and beat you."
Best of luck. |

mindmetoo...that was dissapointing.
I thought for sure that caveman generalizations worthy of the deep south of the 1950's would be below your standards.
I was wrong and that is too bad. |

Eye for an eye. I like Corporal, but these threads, without fail, go the same path every time. |

Anyone wish to share some of their dating experiences with Korean females?? I'm kinda curious..
Where did you go? What did you do? Did you encounter any major cultural problems? |

My take on this....
Younger Korean girls (under 2 will just date for fun. They won't really mind that you're a foreigner and in the lowly position of hagwon teacher. They're just having fun.
When a Korean girl gets to that, "must get married" age (28+) they will keep in touch (maybe not date them all but definitely keep in touch) with every marriage-able guy they know until one pops the question. The waegukin sungsingnim may find he's out of the equation with girls on a marriage campaign.
Huh?? Why does the cool emoticon come up instead of the number eight?? |

| Doing 8) activates the cool smiley. You've got to disable smilies in your post. |

Haha... I thought that was just a smart-ass way of saying you dated girls under 20! (ie: 18 and under, usually...) |

Like her or not.
On this issue she has a point and much more valid experience then most of us as she is married to a Korean man.
This my friends is what you call direct knowledge or experience when it comes to the topic. Not, like most in here hearsay mixed with a hefty dose of generalization and sometimes prejudice. |

Mostly right, but a Korean friend of mine is getting married this year to a kyopo. It's because, she says, that she's attracted to western thinking. I asked her to explain what the hell she means but she couldn't; just that it's not a slam against Korean mean, but a preference for whatever the intangible western thinking thing is.
I've heard similar things back in my dating days but whether the perception's effect was strong or not I can't say. |
