I'm in a PC-bang and a Korean guy who speaks pretty good English came up to strike up a conversation. It turns out he's a bodybuilder, though it wasn't obvious until he pulled up a sleeve to show off his huge bicep. Seems like an OK guy anyway. We parted and he went back to his computer.

Five minutes later (just now) he walked over with his cell phone and said "Let me show you my body...." and proceeded to show pictures of him and his friends flexing at a bodybuilding competition.

What does it mean?

Hummm...this didn't happen in Hannam Dong did it?

The owner of my gym is a professional bodybuilder. Nice enough guy, but he's CONSTANTLY showing me pictures of himself flexing.

Kinda awkward

This is probably a widespread phenomenon. No one is gay in Korea, but they have no qualms about showing you their body or taking a good long gander at your yogurt slinger.

Did he say this with a deep, masculine Austrian accent?

No?

He's gay.

In fact, it sounds like the opening scene of a Korean gay porno. I can hear the wah-wah pedal now.

"Let me show you my body" - *chika-chika-wah-wah*
"Oh no, I left my wallet at home. How will I pay you for this PC rental" - *bah-bah-dah-dah-daa*

Tell him to f*&% off...you don't care to see pics of guys flexing...unless you are gay. Or would you be too scared to tell him straight?!

Aren't bodybuilders, by definition, exhibitionists? It sounds to me like he enjoyed chatting with you the first time and then decided to continue the conversation. Innocent.

Guys just trying to show off to you. The trainers (guys who think they are bodybuilders) are constantly trying to show me their pipes (BICEPS, NOT COCKS)

I find it more funny than annoying.

I didn't really think there was a sinister or sexual meaning... it was just something funny that happened to me while I was on the forums. However, you can imagine my surprise when he came over and said "Let me show you my body!"

Tell him to take his body and piss off. To me it's the same as someone showing to me his wedding pictures then honeymoon pictures while all along I'm thinking, "If I cared any less about your goddamn pictures, I'd have to be dead!" as my stream of thought lands me to this final and painful rumination, "Ah, this is what hell is all about".

The guy is just bragging. One gym owner in my town who used to be the top ranked guy in Asia does pull out of his wallet the laminated pictures of him posing whenever he strikes up a conversation with a foreigner. The guy is infamously pretentious among Koreans and foreigners. I used to train with a couple of friends who were top ranked bodybuilders in Korea and they would never brag about such things. For them, bodybuilding is something they enjoy doing. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those pictures just keeping more interesting, don't they. Like the non-bodybuilder is going to comment on or even appreciate his separation, vascularity, ...

By any chance, are his posing briefs smaller each time he shows you his pictures?

Wasn't it Sartre who said, "Hell is other people"?

I feel your pain about having to look at wedding/honeymoon pictures. They are bottom of the barrel. Now if they included a video of the good part of the honeymoon, that would be a different story. But no.
