In my two years in Korea I've been through numerous hair dos dyes and don'ts. Here are some of my experiences.

The good
Hair
Uno's in Coex. They did a pretty bang up job on my hair and covering up previous bad highlight jobs. They didn't do the roots very well. Price is okish and I was never left unattended. Friendly staff, but not much english. Still best place I've been to in Korea

Nails
Pronails.
Behind hamilton. They do a pretty good job

Dashing Diva's in Coex. Only place that I've seen that actually sanitizes their gear. Really friendly and the manager is a US citizen so they know their stuff.

Waxing
Dashing Diva's again. Only had eyebrows but they did a good job. Will report leg findings later.

Facials
The doctor woo's skin care clinic off exit 1 in sookmyung womens' university is an excellent place to get any skin problems taken care of. They also have a facial clinic downstairs. The doctor and staff their aren't just good for korea, they are good.

The bad (well ok, not too bad)
Hair
The turtle place above Burger king in itaewon. They are too busy up there and will often leave you unattended so your hair cut takes forever. The speak pretty good english but have a habit of ignoring what you say and cutting away.

The ugly
Hair
Frank Provost in Frasier suits in insadong. I previously recommened them but after they turned my regrowth orange I stopped.

So where do you go to beautify yourself?

I went to that place above Burger King in Itaewon. Yes, it took forever, but I found the hairstylist, a korean guy who goes by the name of "Michel", to be very knowledgeable. Even when I could not quite articulate what I wanted, he was able to produce it. I was very impressed. If you're in a hurry, though, I would not recommend it. My hair turned out just fine, because they seem to be able to do blonde highlights well. However, my friend got purple highlights put into her hair. Less than a week later they had already faded to pink. While it's still cute, it's not what she wanted.

I might add that Lee Jiham Skin Clinic in Apkujeong is really great for skin issues. Always amazed that I spend about 3,000 won per appointment to see a specialist (I have health insurance). So cheap!

They also opened an office in Bundang recently (I think it's near the Pizza Hut in Seohyun, but I can't remember for sure).

Don't live in Seoul so I won't be much help BUT I'd like to say that the beautician I go to in Taegu has got to be the best I've ever been to. I have one lady doing the face while another does the hands and feet (service!!). It takes about 1 hour and costs 25,000 won.

Hairdressers are a bit 'hit and miss'. They never seem to do the roots - start the foils about an inch alway from the scalp. Also, a bit patchy.
Cuts can be great or disastrous - either way they're cheap at 7,000 won and at least your hair grows out!!

I've been going to a local place that isn't too bad in Jung Gye Pon Dong, No Won Gu, for the last three years for my color and highlights. It's been a process...but through notes Korean friends have translated, or getting them on the phone, plus a lot of patience and a few small gifts on my part (fresh strawberries, a poundcake once in a while) after a couple tries I finally got them to do the color and highlights all the way to the roots - usually. I also tip the shampoo girl. It's worth it to me to get it right. (I have a heck of a time getting my dog groomed the way I want him, too!)

All of the Juno Hair places in Bundang are pretty good. There are two near Samsung Plaza and one at Sunae I think. All of my friends always tell me that they have awesome English speaking stylists when they go, but when I go the stylists that cut my hair never seem to speak English. Oh well. They do a good job anyway.

As for the place above the Burger King in Itaewon...

Yep...and fading more and more each day. Seems kinda wrong to me. There pretty much just big blond chunks now and you just saw me on Sunday.

Pronails in Itaewon is great for manicures and pedicures.
