|
|
Hey all,
I went to Sydney to the Korean consulate to process my E2 visa and when i went there they asked me for my transcripts and degree - I already have my E2 visa and the blue form so i was a little shocked as I didn't think it would be needed and I didn't have them on me, they are in Korea.....
Then they told me that I would have to have an interview to see if my visa would be approved!!!!!!
As this will be the 4th E2 visa I have processed i was a little shocked and surprised and told them I would just get my visa processed in Japan in Fukuoka...
Then they told me, that in Fukuoka as well i have to give to the Korean consulate my original degree, transcript and also and interview there as I might not be approved.......
They told me it changed only 2 weeks ago..
My E2 visa has already been approved in Korea, I have my blue form, so I don't undertsand why i have to do all this....
So what I am asking is.....
Who has been to Fukuoka in the last 2 weeks and did they have to give over their documents again and have an interview???
I'm happy that immigration is doing all this and are serious about cracking down, just came as a surprise and an inconvinience as I am in Australia while all my stuff is in Korea...I just wish i had of known. |

Ha, sounds like "Mr. Super Korean Man" at the consulate in Aussie thinks he can solve the whole illegal teacher problem by himself.
Typical Korean cowboy thinking... make up your own rules. |

Do I hate Koreans? When did I ever say that? So it's OK for one Korean office to create their own rules? Isn't this a problem indicative of the Korean system?
I go to get my motorcycle license, and the office says I need a special form from the US Embassy to get it. The US Embassy has never heard of such a form. Another example... The Ministry of Education says one thing and immigration says another about working two jobs legally. Another example... A foreigner, who has never been to Korea before, gets a 3 month tourist visa stamp from an airport Immigration agent who makes a mistake. When the foreigner leaves after 2 1/2 months, he is detained and informed he has illegally overstayed his visa. He shows them the passport with a 3 month stamp, and they discount it. He is fined and kicked out of the country. This is a true story which was reported here on Dave's.
If you don't believe me, feel free to read any of the MANY articles that Real Reality quotes so often. Foreigners and foreign companies find doing business here difficult, and life unpleasant because of problems just like this.
Koreans make up rules as they go along, and rarely will admit their mistakes. It's indicative of the society. You call it generalizing... I call it Korean culture. You call me a "Korean hater" for merely pointing out facts. If that's true, then you must really hate Koreans yourself, because you seem to hate the things they culturally accept and do often.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say you sound like a Gyopo stuck in a society that won't fully accept you, yet you feel you must apologize for. Try all you want -- you'll never fully be a part of it. |

I agree with Derreck, even though I am Canadian, it seems that every immigration office has its own rules. When I got overcharged getting my F2 and E2 renewed. The woman said "You must understand that my English is not as good as yours". What the heck does that have to do with the mistake she made? She spoke mostly to my Korean wife. She made a screw up and admitted it, Ill give her that, but she didn't say I'm sorry by any means.
BTW, the reason it upset me is because you just can't take a day off to go immigration.. You have to wake up early and then take the bus or whatever and it is a real pain in the a$$ |

I'll put it this way, if I thought that every Korean was lying to me, was unable to apologize, made the rules up as they went along, ad nauseum, as you seem to believe, I might hate them too.
But I actually don't hate them, because I don't believe that crap.
Own your own merde, derrek. |

| Derreck, made a few valid points regarding the tendency for government ministries to seemingly mislead people on occasion, and to be fair it does seem to be a widespread problem. I always insist on getting things in writing with the person's name and position. That way if they have misled me I have some hardcopy evidence to back my side. |

You have never directly said it, but you have implied it by the posts taht you make and the positions you take on issues. Everyone Korean and Canadian is the 'cause of all of your problems.
Derrek,
The cup is half full.
Really it is, take a look at it from different angle. |
