The subject line says it all. The boss wanted me to work 10 hours a day and when I said no he threw a computer (really beside me) at me so my girlfriend and I packed it in and now we are back home thinking of what to do and how to get back to Korea. Is it possible just to get another job and start again? Do I go as a tourist and then get a job or do I try and get a job before I go?

I'm sure that people here have experience so any help or advice that you can give would be great. I know that it has been covered before... Embarassed

Did he give you a release letter? If so, I think you can come back?

With a release letter you can come back and get a job.

Without a release letter you have two options:
a) wait until the first visa expires (look in your passport for the date)
b) come back and work illegally on a tourist visa.

Since I left the country and gave my E-2 visa to immigration on the way out does this mean that my contract is finished? If I leave the country do I need a relase letter? If I complain about the school will that help my cause in getting another job? One guy said that I could have went to Japan and came back as a tourist and got a new job. Is any of this correct?

you did not give your E2 visa to immi when you left the ccountry, you gave them your ARC.
your E2 visa is stamped into your passport and lasts for 1 year.

no. you need a release letter to leave one job for another.

you should have done that before you ran.
now, it makes no difference.

it's a possibility.
it depends on what the old boss said to immi. if he said you were a runner, immi will block you from a new E2 until the old one expires.
if the boss simply hired a new teacher and cancelled your visa in favor of new one, then yes, you could come back on a tourist visa and start the process again. it depends on your status at immi.
