How difficult would it be to transfer money from my bank here in the states to a Korean Bank when I open up my account? |

depends on the bank. what you might want to do is put the money on your credit card and then take it out in cash here and put it into your bank account that way. then there aren't any international banking fees. |

You could try using an international ATM to withdraw the cash once you get here, but a lot of American friends have had trouble with that.
Best bet might be to get either traveller's cheques, or a money order and deposit it when you open the account here. |

You could nominate someone to act on your behalf back in the us (like a parent), and they can transfer the money after you open and accoun in Korea. |

From my experiences, even the Exchange banks do not take money orders. KEB let's you withdraw money with your ATM card. |

My cards all charge a fee for cash advances. |

I have never had any trouble just withdrawing money from my accounts in the US. I also have a bank that doesn't charge me for using other banks ATMs so it was by far the cheapest way to do it. also talk to your bank, my bank lets you do wire transfers over the phone (I asked them before I left) but be advised, you can get charged killer fees for doing it. |

If memory serves me right, Kukmin Bank offers the Western Union services (I think they were bought out by the bank or company that owns Western Union). |

You would have to open a foreign exchange account (ex one in dollars) and then wire the money from the US to Korea....it has to be in dollars, euros, CF, or other big currency cause dollars are not easily exchanged into won in the states) |
