So I give 30 days notice, have a bunch of job offers, and then what? Can I just leave the country and take my paperwork from my new employer to the consulate in Japan, and come back? My boss says he'll give me a letter of release - is it just a matter of going to immigration to get it processed and then I'm fine? Thanks in advance for any help! |

basically you take your elease letter to immi and aquire your 'blue form'.
immi will also issue you an exit order, giving you 15days to leave the country. hopefully, your blue form can be processed within that time.
then you take your blue form and all the documents from your new job to a korean consulate for a new visa.
it would be more efficient if you can persuade your old employer and your new employer to accompany you to immi at the same time and simply transfer your visa.
actually, i'm suprised that immi in incheon will allow you to present a release letter without the old employer being present. here in daegu, we must have the old employer deliver the release letter in person. |
