It depends what I am doing.
I stand when I feel it is appropriate and I sit when I feel like it.

I see no reason to stand while students are working on a worksheet(unless I am moving around checking on them)
I see no reason to sit while I am standing at the board writing.

If you have some dumbass director who gets on your back about it tell them to eff off and leave you alone.

Grotto, I really like your attitude - it's very encouraging. I just gave my 30 days notice this morning, you'll be happy to hear.

Well, according to the poster STP anyone over thirty teaching haggie is a LOSER. Laughing

He has been in Korea four years; I believe him!

Therefore, if under thirty, stand and shake your booty. You're not a loser!

Man.. He really touched a nerve there didn't he?

Or was this a thread about who is or isn't a loser?

Don't worry cap. Nobody else thinks you're a loser.

I have a friend who is a Korean school teacher. Last week she was really sick, but went to work, of course. She couldn't stand, so she taught sitting down.

She was called into the principal's office and given a lecture about sitting and told not to do it again.

Now, from everything I have heard, her boss is an exceptional jerk, but it is clear that sitting is just not acceptable.

I have another friend who got comments on her evaluations for sitting down while teaching. This in a class of 10 students, in a small class room with a conference table set up.

Clearly standing is expected.

I have this small classroom with a huge table in it. If I am walking around its difficult to manuveer. So I tend to sit most of the time, and compensate by being as animated as possible.

I also have this wierd chalk board that i need some funky marking pen that looks white out. I had one for like three days then it dissappeared and my haggie won't get me another.

So if I have a reason to stand I do, on the other hand to much walking about might cause some poor kid physical harm if I turn to fast and catch him in the coconut with a stray elbow.

Last.... I will be honest with 25 different classes a week I know full good and well my place at the school is to provide a the token foreign teacher, not to particularly teach anything. So my methods are to get them through the lesson as quickly as possible, and push them into a game, and then out the door. Its sickening to me, and yes I am actively looking for another haggie or public school that gives me a chance to teach at the end of my contract.
