Hehehe....I must agree...

A nationalistic, patriotic, politician can always be assured of a lot of votes. It's one of the pity's of this world.

I can't believe how nationalistic and mean-spirited this Rep. Hong guy is getting regarding Korean military service! Some dual-national Koreans are in America and other places and can't even speak Korean, yet this character wants them all to serve in the nation's military. He has said that Koreans who give up their citizenship will be treated "as foreigners". Well, he's right about that - because in general, foreigners aren't treated very well in this country, especially those of us who work in hagwons. But all this ranting seems to say that his real target is besting Japan, not being ready for a potential NK invasion, like all the other nationalism drivel that issues from his mouth.

He doesn't see that Japan has no interest in invading Korea, as they are neutral. This is a fantasy cooked up in the mentally-ill minds of some Korean males who'd like a chance to show their military bluster because they know they don't really have any. What they need to be more careful of is China, but that is never said in all the Japan-bashing.

The Korean military is not a healthy place either, as this is where men are told they must smoke, drink, hork, spit, become what to a warped Korean middle-age male is "manhood".

Hong needs to tone down his rhetoric, or it will only encourage more younger Koreans to leave and make Korea a laughingstock on the world stage, like they became when people cut off their fingers and set fire to themselves over a few islands in the Sea of Japan (oops!) East Sea - excusez-MOI!
