not only did you make the mistake of not checking things out before you signed with this school, but now you have continued to hurt yourself by working almost a year with them cheating you.

Ahh but I did check things out. The only person I was able to reach was the head teacher at the school. He told us everything was peachy and that the bosses were more than fair. He was tired of working with the two temp replacements the school had found when their last two teachers pulled a runner. Which he failed to mention. It was when we got to work, he told us we can't trust our boss.

As with most things, this guy was simply looking out for number one.

As far as working for almost a year with them cheating me. I've confronted the boss about some of her misdealings, her response, maybe you should go somewhere else. When the parents caught wind of her badmouthing us, they threatened to pull their kids out.

I understand what everyone on this post is saying. But, the boss didn't agree to give us two weeks off at the end of our contract. She agreed to tack that on at the end of intensive. Also, she has screwed others in the past on their airfare.

I wanted to know what typical practices are here. Has anyone ever won a case for thier airfare or bonus with the Labor Board? efl-law is down now, the law guy that runs the forum has moved onto other ventures.

I'm pretty certain there are more than 5 full time employees. I guess it depends how each person's job is described to get the exact number. Is it anyone on salary a full time employee or someone that works more than 30 hours a week?[/quote]

thanks for the peripheral info.

i think the best thing you could at this point, is go down to the labor board and report everything illegal she has done.
if you are in the last month of your contract, she must give you 30 days notice before she fires you. if she becomes vindictive and fires you, you have already taken the initiative to protect yourself. the labor board will have been introduced to your situation.

it's time to get more aggressive, and pre-emptive.
be at the labor board 9am, Monday morning with your contract, your questions and you'll get answers.

all at the same time....string her along as if you are willing to re-new at the end of the summer. tell her that you would like to come back but you were curious about some things regarding labor law and decided to get some answers. if she treats you according to the contract, she has nothing to be worried about.
