Please Homer and jaykimf provide some advice.

Perhaps if you are unhappy with your contract, you should ask yourself why you signed it.
Perhaps if you want a higher paying job, you should apply for one.
Perhaps if you can't find a better job in Korea, you should ask yourself why you choose to remain in Korea instead of going to whatever country you think has better opportunities.
Perhaps if you can't find a better position anywhere in the world, you should be grateful for the opportunity you have in Korea.

I put my picture and phone number (no resume) and got dozens of offers. Maybe it is time for the guy to do the same if he wants to stay here.

Would would anyone try to help him get a letter of release and even make the suggestion that he should try to get a new job????

Sure, help him get the wrongfully deducted salary and then get him on a plane home. Come on, it's only gonna get worse, both for him and his unwitting students. It's better for everyone if he called it a day.

Is it teaching and being in Korea or is it teaching in a hakwon, a specific hakwon at that? Only he can tell us the answer.

I told him to get a letter of release on Monday....the hogwan found a new teacher who will be coming on the 3'rd of June. Of course they want him out of the apartment(office tel and not a very nice one either)

I have offered to go in with him and help him get the letter, negotiate some of his money back. The school was telling him that his recruiter is getting him a ticket back to the states...which makes me wonder WTF?

I told him if he plans on staying to post on Daves and worknplay asap(like today) and get a new job lined up asap.

We will see if he is listening.

I think the problem is/was that they basically handed him the stack of books and said go teach...He wasnt sure of what to do, where to start, and the students picked up on his lack of experience and of course he just replaced a fairly popular teacher which didnt help his situation either.

He definately needs to make a decision!

Hogwan owners have been known to do some vindictive crazy things. Maybe they figure they owe him money, but they're also his sponsor. Therefore, they're responsible for him. So, they send him home and deduct the money from what's left of his salary. Strange, but anything's possible in the twilight zone.

3 other suggestions for him to consider: Japan, Taiwan, or any other place.

Hope everything works out for him. It takes a bit to settle in and he's obviously not getting that opportunity.
