I know it's illegal for us to agree to, and to do.....but shouldn't they get busted for asking us?

I find it quite annoying.

It's not illegal to agree to them, just to do them. Plenty of people have approached me for private lessons, and the ones that don't understand "No thank you" are told "Okay" (but I have my fingers crossed behind my back). I negotiate price and location, and go on my way, never to see them again. (Well, I *DID* tell them no. It's not my fault they didn't believe me)

I got asked to do this by a Korean friend. When I politely explained why I could not, she was surprised. She had no idea that foreigners could get deported for this.

On the other hand, a friend of mine was quite persistently pushed toward doing private lessons by the very bitchy and profoundly untrustworthy "head" teacher of the dodgy hogwan he was about to leave less than two months later (at the end of his contract). She was most upset when he declined, but it's anyone's guess what might have happened if he had agreed.
