|
|
Kim Jong Il has apparently outfitted himself with some new, even higher, platform shoes.
Quote: |
The Dong-a Ilbo published a recently obtained photograph of a smiling Kim that shows him wearing a pair of platform shoes with heels about 10 cm-12 cm (4-5 inches) high.
Kim's actual height is a tightly guarded secret and Pyongyang seldom releases photographs that show his shoes. Kim is estimated to stand between 155 cm and 165 cm tall in his stockinged feet.

"Platform shoes are an essential item for Kim Jong-il who fears being ignored when he meets outside leaders and Westerners", said Sohn Kwang-joo, chief editor of the Daily NK, a Web site that follows North Korean news.
"What would North Koreans think if their leader was such a short man? That's why Kim feels he deserves to wear platform shoes, even if they kill his ankles," he said.

Dong-A is right on top of the breaking news:

The photo published on Wednesday was taken in 2002 during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. |

I'd like to see him go 10-pin bowling in those shoes, doubt if he'd match his Dad's perfect 300. |

"Pyongyang media say North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il enjoys golf, having shot multiple holes-in-one during his first try at the game. He reportedly aced five holes and finished 38 under par on the golf course. The "Great Leader" routinely shoots three or four holes-in-one per round, the government-controlled media reported. " |

Fashion and cosmetics are an entirely useless, unnecessary and bourgeoisie concept.
People in the third world have NO choice about their fashion style or hair accessories.
In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, citizens are provided with a variety of "Approved Haircuts" in which to select.
I think this is a good idea - it is why most workers and students have uniforms.
Kim dresses in the same way as an ordinary worker would. |

And this is the chump that the civilized world has to placate and kiss up to right now? There's no hope, I tell ya. |

Kim Jong Ill has a change of clothing. His fellow countrymen often don't. Further, North Korean cabinet aides wear suits cut from the finest cloth in their negotiations with the west, and when they are partying with the "Dear Leader" and his array of working girls.

Wrong, he has a change of clothing. With respect to clothing the Dear Leader's situation is the polar opposite of ordinary North Koreans. I guess you think the Dear Leader eats like an ordinary worker does too don't you? Fool. |

No. Not at all. I have never seen Kim wearing a suit and tie.

There is no conclusive primary-source proof about Kim's movements or living conditions. What we *DO* know is that Western journalists - people that have never set foot in North Korea - are in no position to make such judgements first hand. Frankly, nor are we.

I don't doubt their wholesome intentions on this point. But obviously this is an unintentional generalization created by translation issues. |
