Anyone who acts as if their country is the centre of the universe is a w@nker, pure and simple. I've met plenty of my fellow compatriots here who give me the creeps. I have also met Canadian, American and Brit tw@ts, but hey, they are well outnumbered by the decent folks I meet. People seem to notice it more in Canuks for one simple reason, sheer weight of numbers. They are no worse or better than anyone else in my mind.

Have you noticed the rash of "Canadian-only" hagwons lately, who will hire only Canadians?

On another note....

I'd like to take this opportunity to post a PM I received from a well-known poster on this forum. I won't post his name, but I'd enjoy your comments. Basically, I got a pretty big chuckle out of this, as it is a perfect illustration of why I went from a person who, coming here, viewed Canada as a sort of brother to the North, but now view Canada in a different light:

"Would you like some actual truths pointed out to you?
Your posts are asinine at best. You are jealous of Canadians because we are loved globally, get longer visa's than you and get paid more.

You whimper and whine about how it is unfair that Canadians are liked better than ass kissing whiny americans.

Facts about the United Stupid Americans. You will show the most violent of acts on television at any time of the day. YET the showing of a pastie covered nipple outraged the entire country when Janet Jackson flashed the nation.

Americans are like little spoiled children.

For the last 10 years or so the yankee dumbass battlecry has been 'oooh oooh look they have weapons of mass destruction' Fact of the matter is the United Stupid Americans have more weapons of mass destruction than anyone else on the planet. Fact #2 they are the only nation to use nuclear weapons on another country. Fact #3 they have more chemical and biological weapons stockpiled than any other country in the world too. Hell for that matter they have more WOMD than all the other countries in the world combined.

Why is Al Quada so effective against american targets? Because the United Stupid Americans are the dumbass morons that trained the Al Quada terrorists to begin with.

You are a typical dumbass american derreck...you love to point fingers at other countries...insult them and pretend to be morally superior. When in fact you are so insecure about the stupidity of your own country your only inbred country hick comeback is 'oh yuh...we kin nuke ya'

You dont like how Canadians are treated..why is that I wonder? Must be something like *beep* envy. Canada is bigger, cleaner, richer and gosh darn it people like us. Unlike the spoiled little brat to our South.

Recent studies have shown that a staggering 58% of americans are ILLITERATE. They graduate high school and they cant read or write.

They have no concept of the world..they are so insular(go to merriam & Webster to look up these big words) they are retarded by global comparison.

Either learn a bit more about the world or think about what you say or grow a thicker skin.

There isn't. Not on a notable level, anyway. In fact, as far as schools singling out one nationality, you'd be surprised at how many over here request Brits. However, I'm talking about the broader market that contacts recruiters for teachers, and not just the percentage of schools that advertise on Daves.

Yep, when I put on my smarmy Oxbridge accent, or even a lowly Estuary one and apply for jobs on my British passport, I am overwhelmed with the responses I get.

I didn't mean to imply that they are shifting towards Brits for preferences or anything. I'm just saying that I've seen hiring criteria feedback come back to me in the past, that they want a British speaker. I didn't say there was an overwhelming amount of them. The amount asking specifically for Canadians or specifically for Americans was about even with each other, and a lot more prevalent than the ones looking for Brits, of course, but there were more than I expected.

I'm just saying, as a dual passport holder, I get a better response as a Brit than an Aussie. I can usually pass as either. Not having a pop or anything.

Um no, Nationalistic Canadians are just as moronic as nationalist americans, koreans or any other nationalistic fool

I haven't been doing a statistical analysis or anything, but during my job search I have gotten the same impression as Derrek about the number of Canadian-only jobs.
