Hi guys,

I'm tired of living off dodgy KFC takeaway and ham sandwiches for dinner and have decided to try and get to Carrefour in Incheon and stock my freezer and cupboard.

I'm living in Nam-gu and am pretty clueless on the whole bus/subway palava so I thought that I'd just spring for a taxi this time around (I've onyl been here 6 days).

So where do I tell the taxi man to take me? And how much would the trip cost roughly? (I'm teaching at Yonghyun Girls Middle School and live 5 mins away from it).

Any other pearls of wisdom that more experienced people would care to share?

Thanks,

Chris Leigh

Oh and I forgot to say, my landlady wrote my address down on a bit of card, its all in Korean so it means nothing to me, but would it be sufficient to show the taxi driver to get me home?

The French way to pronounce Carrefour is Kah ra four. But in Korea they say it Kah ra ppuh or Kah ra ffuhh.
Forget the 'four' as it is spelt.

Good luck on your mission! Very Happy

The newest Carrefour in Nam-gu which is in Incheon is in front of Inha University. So you would just have to say Inha Dae...and then cross the street to the Carrefour...

Just be careful that they take you to the front gate....if they took to you to the back you would have to walk through the campus to get to Carrefour.

When we met for the vcds...I can show the way to carrefour...call me on Sunday or Saturday morning.

If you want to avoid any confusion, print this screen off and give it to the taxi driver.

Well by the looks of it this is what you say to the taxi driver.

Inha Dae Jong Moon
(Inha Uni)(front gate)

or give this to him õ 292-2 (ϴб )
It says:Incheon Namgu Yonghyeondong 292-2 (inha uni front gate in front off)

Well I made it without much incident.

One of my co-teachers wrote some script on a piece of paper, and it worked pretty well. I got taken to the CGV one, cost about 12,000 won round trip.

It was pretty good! I blew loads of money on totally unecessary things Smile I had to spend 6000 won on a decent bar of chocolate, that hersheys stuff is truely rancid. I also got brie, mozzarella and loads of other stuff.

The only blunder came when I tried to cook the food, I heated some oil in the pan, but it turns out it the heaters here are rather powerful. Still I negotiated my first kitchen fire pretty well Very Happy Very Happy

Well I'm pleased, I didn't get a lot, and the dumplings i got suck ass but its all a learning experience.

Thanks for all your help!

Welcome to Nam-gu! I'm a little east of you near Munhak Stadium. PM me if you're bored or have any questions.

I love when I mention Carrefour to Koreans. They look at me. Think a moment. And then say "oh you're talking about ka ra ppuh!"

Juan is the closest station and you can take the 511 bus from Juan to Inha.

I live around Inha so I have been to the new carrefour quite a bit...still disappointed with the foreign section and I paid a lot for salami...but the baking section was really quite good.

On the south side of every Korean city. Which makes the OP a little confusing. Clarity -20.
