This goes out to all experienced ESL teachers...advice much appreciated!
I have received job info from Gia Consulting (Gina Kim) and I was looking for some input about their organization. Would any of you recommend going through them? If not, can any of you recommend either good recruiters or individual schools? I've also heard about Ding Dind Dang schools...what's their deal?
Being new at this there are just so many questions! Let me know if there are any recommendations about schools or even areas to live in South Korea.
Thanks! |

Ask for the email addresses of teachers they've placed.
As for what area to live in, it all depends on what you're looking for. Do you want a small city with almost zero western luxuries, just the opposite, or something in between? Research some cities online. |

One thing you can do is a search both on Dave's and Google for the recruiter/ and or school and see if they turn up on any blacklists.
I went through Koreana Teachers Club/Pnf. I had a delay in finding out about my ticket but it turned out that the recruiter I was dealing with had suddently left his job. Otherwise they seemed fine and far above what I've read of most recruiters.

Look into Footprints Recruiting or Teachcorps...I really liked them. Also, I personally recommend living in a suburb, close enough to experience the city when you want to and FAR enough for when you DON'T |

I went and did EPIK with work n play and not had any problems yet. I was hassling her constantly and she never complained, and I sent my ACTUAL degree etc over here and had no problems whatsoever.
Last month they we're advertising 30 or so positions so I think they'd be worth checking out.
That said, I've not had any problems yet so resolving such issues may alter my opinions

I also have a recruiter who has been great to me. Her name is Mary Kim from Angel Recruiting and her website is www.angelrecruiting.com . I was a pain in the ass to place because I had so many conditions, and she wasn't a jerk about it like other recruiters were. She ended up placing me at a school that I'm having lots of problems with, but instead of abandoning me she's right in there helping me out. She might even end up eating my airfare costs. Everyone makes mistakes, but at least she's owning up to it and helping me out, so she gets a thumbs up from me. |

Thanks for all the info everyone! I've been researching so many different companies/recruiters and it's hard to know who to trust without the personal background info. I've found some good info about who and who not to work with. I'm currently intouch with Footprints and Canadian Connection. Hopefully one of the two will pan out! |
